This event showcases the largest architecture, materials, and construction technology in ASEAN, featuring thousands of renowned brands showcasing various innovations. Additionally, there are many highlights such as exhibitions, design competitions, and international architecture seminars.
(Architect'19) “Living Green” will take place from April 30 to May 5, 2019, at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani, covering over 60,000 square meters.
Mr. Atchaphol Dusitnanont stated, “The Architect event is the largest exhibition of architecture, materials, and construction technology in the ASEAN region, initiated by the Association of Siamese Architects since 1986. This marks the 33rd edition of the event, aimed at showcasing potential and presenting advancements in architecture, raising awareness of the architect profession's role in society through various exhibitions and activities organized by the association for over three decades, attracting over 400,000 visitors last year.”
The Architect event presents construction materials and products related to architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture. There are also many interesting exhibitions and activities, including international seminars and various services prepared by the Association of Siamese Architects for members and the general public. Each year, the association sets a different concept to reflect the changing trends of the world, and this year's theme is “Living Green,” showcasing environmentally friendly architecture and design for sustainable living.
During the press conference, Dr. Acharawan Chutarat discussed this year's event, stating, “The issues of climate change and global warming impact the economy, society, and quality of life for everyone on the planet. This is a significant problem that people in all professions must urgently address, especially architects, whose work inevitably affects the environment, cities, and communities, from design to material selection and construction methods.”
The Architect'62 “Living Green” event presents concepts of sustainable architecture and design, innovative environmentally friendly construction materials, and the integration of local wisdom with technology to create solutions suitable for the current context through exhibitions and numerous educational activities. This is the first time the Architect event will create a “Green Experience” for visitors, with a design concept for sustainability in every detail, from using environmentally friendly materials in constructing various exhibitions to designing appropriate lighting in the exhibition space to reduce energy consumption, minimizing paper usage in communications between organizers and exhibitors, waste management during the event, and reusing materials after the event concludes.
The Architect'62 event spans over 60,000 square meters, divided into two main sections: the exhibitor area, featuring over 850 leading global brands, and the activity area of the Association of Siamese Architects, which includes thematic exhibitions and many interesting activities, such as the “Green Building Showcase,” showcasing green building design concepts from leading Asian designers, the exhibition “Wisdom from 3 Regions to the Present,” presenting local innovations that may be the answer for sustainable living in the future, the “Go Zero Waste - A New Life Without Waste” exhibition, and the “Innovative Green Products” exhibition featuring environmentally friendly construction materials.
The event also includes the ASA International Design Competition 2019, an important platform for new architects competing for a total prize of over 280,000 baht. This year's design challenge is “Uncanny Sustainability,” seeking creative ideas for sustainable design that differ from traditional forms. This competition is open to anyone interested worldwide, not limited to architects. Additionally, there will be recreational activities for the general public, practical workshops, a central stage, and public relaxation areas for visitors to enjoy performances and interesting activities throughout the event, as well as “House Doctor ASA,” addressing various home and design issues for the public. Another highlight not to be missed is the “ASA Forum 2019,” an international architecture seminar featuring renowned architects and designers, including Atelier Ten, experts in high-rise building technology from New York, architects from Foster + Partners, Eco Architect, S/T/U/do, and more.
This year's Architect'62 event has partnered with both public and private sectors, including the Health Promotion Foundation (HPF), the National Innovation Agency (NIA), the Austrian Embassy, the Thailand Green Building Institute, and various private organizations that prioritize sustainable concepts. It is anticipated to attract at least 25% more visitors than last year.
