April 5, 2019 - Mr. Somnuk Rongthong, the Managing Director of the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd., announced the flight volume during the Songkran festival 2019, from April 11 to April 17, 2019. This year, the number of flights has increased by 4.8% compared to last year, with a total of 19,987 flights nationwide, averaging 2,855 flights per day. April 17, 2019, is expected to be the day with the highest flight volume of the Songkran festival, reaching 3,199 flights.

This increase is due to two long holiday periods in April, with people starting to travel from April 5, 2019, and again on April 11, 2019. It is anticipated that many will return on April 17, 2019, resulting in the highest flight volume on that day.

Additionally, the Aeronautical Radio has forecasted the flight volume at the country's main airports as follows: Suvarnabhumi Airport is expected to have a total of 7,545 flights, averaging 1,078 flights per day; Don Mueang Airport will have 5,380 flights, averaging 769 flights per day; Phuket will have 2,554 flights, averaging 365 flights per day; Chiang Mai will have 1,768 flights, averaging 253 flights per day; Hat Yai will have 598 flights, averaging 85 flights per day; Krabi will have 533 flights, averaging 76 flights per day; and U-Tapao will have 321 flights, averaging 46 flights per day.

The Aeronautical Radio has prepared measures to ensure that air traffic control personnel are adequately staffed for the expected flight volume during this period. They are also coordinating closely with airlines and aviation service agencies, planning integrated operations to facilitate airlines and passengers during the Songkran festival. Passengers are advised to stay updated with information from their respective airlines and to allow extra time for travel to the airport.
