Sansiri Reaffirms Commitment to Tree Conservation Through Sansiri Tree Story, Highlighting Over 35 Years of Genuine Green Space and Tree Management in Real Estate, Confident in Driving Green Mission and Sustainable Value of Trees
Sansiri Public Company Limited reinforces its leadership in environmental care and green spaces within the Thai real estate industry by announcing a sustainable model for managing green spaces and trees in its projects through the ‘Sansiri Tree Story’ which has been upheld for over 35 years. This initiative aims to create value for trees that connects residents and integrates into their lifestyle through four caring processes: “Collect, Select, Plant, Maintain.” This approach is a vital cog in driving the Sansiri Green Mission towards promoting a circular economy for a sustainable green society in the future.

Mr. Uthai Uthaisangsuak, Chief Executive Officer of Sansiri Public Company Limited stated that Sansiri Tree Story is a guideline for managing green spaces and trees in residential projects, recognizing the importance of environmental value and understanding the significance of trees to the community, which impacts the living conditions and quality of life for everyone in society. Furthermore, trees hold emotional value as an integral part of human life. Therefore, we aim to pass on this value to our residents and extend it sustainably to society.
“For over 35 years, we have applied principles of designing green spaces and managing trees with appreciation, paying attention to the details of trees that are not merely visible from the outside. This has become a concrete practice to maintain sustainability for the environment of residential areas, enhancing the value of projects in terms of project value, emotional value for residents, and the sustainable transfer of tree value to the community, society, and environment,”
“We believe that what we have started over 35 years ago is now bearing fruit, becoming the standard for managing green spaces and trees in the real estate business in Thailand. Sansiri is very pleased that other real estate companies are beginning to preserve trees as well,” Mr. Uthai added.

Sansiri employs the Eco-Planting principle for managing trees in both high-rise and low-rise projects, from positioning trees for safety, caring for the health of trees linked to human health, to incorporating the concept of tree therapy in designing green spaces. This includes planting for shade, planting dust-filtering trees, absorbing toxins, using fragrant wood for therapy, and considering aesthetic beauty in the area, such as selecting tree species that provide color in each season, all of which contribute to the Sansiri Tree Story that creates value in the living environment for all residents forever.
The four caring processes for trees that Sansiri has adhered to for 35 years since the company's establishment are “Collect, Select, Plant, Maintain.” These include collecting existing trees to enhance value by preserving large existing trees in the project area to pass on value to residents and the community, selecting species, size, and position according to suitability by choosing tree species, the suitability of the area, and the benefits of the species to residents to increase green space for residents to be closer to nature, including emphasizing the selection of trees from nurseries while they are still small to grow strong and sustainably alongside the project and residents, planting correctly for sustainability by paying attention to details from preparing the area, positioning, calculating distances, and supporting trees, and sustainable care and attention to ensure that trees remain beautiful as a lasting value of the project through knowledge transfer, sustainable care guidelines from arborists, and providing care manuals for trees to the juristic person, as well as care manuals for residents through Home Service Application and organizing seminars with universities to pass on knowledge to the community. Because caring for trees is not just the responsibility of one person but a collective effort to ensure the value of trees remains with us forever.

Ms. Jariya Janjerdsuk, Assistant Managing Director of Product Development at Sansiri Public Company Limited added, “The landscape architecture design approach of Sansiri is ‘We Design Value’ connecting trees with people and people with trees in a meaningful way. To plant trees sustainably starts with planting trees in the heart. When we have trees in our hearts, we will see the value of trees beyond their physical characteristics, such as preserving old trees, which can be approached in two ways: keeping the trees in place or relocating them. We start by assessing the value of trees, considering future issues if we decide to preserve them, evaluating costs related to maintaining trees and the value of land use, and planning for tree care during construction if we decide to keep trees in their original positions, starting from root surveys, root system protection, to resting trees. We have arborists as consultants throughout every step.”

“In terms of landscape architecture design, the location of old trees presents a challenge for design. For example, at The Monument Thonglor, we decided to preserve all five trees over 50 years old within the central garden covering more than 1,000 square meters in the heart of Thonglor. Similarly, at Via Botani, we designed the building to embrace an 80-year-old rain tree, making it a lush and iconic landmark of the project,” Ms. Jariya added.

In addition to preserving old trees, we also emphasize using trees from nurseries, designing gardens to integrate old and new trees. Moreover, maintaining the garden and ensuring the trees are healthy is equally important. Sansiri also organizes training to transfer knowledge and create care manuals for trees from professional arborists to juristic persons to sustain the environmental value of projects, as well as enhancing features to provide tips for caring for trees on the Home Service Application to help residents maintain the beauty of trees in their gardens.

With the growing awareness of global environmental pollution today, Sansiri is committed to driving its business with a serious responsibility towards the environment, leading to the vision of Sansiri Green Mission, which consists of four main missions that integrate green innovations throughout the business cycle and implement them in line with the concept of a circular economy for a sustainable future.
“Sansiri believes that within three years, Sansiri Green Mission will be the key to driving the creation of sustainable future cities, marking a turning point in prioritizing environmental concerns in the real estate industry in Thailand, as Sansiri Tree Story has become a model for managing trees in residential projects today to pass on this value to the community and society,” Mr. Uthai concluded.
