Siam Architects Association Collaborates with NEO to Elevate Architect Expo '62 to ASEAN Standards, Featuring Over 850 Companies from 40 Countries
The Siam Architects Association under Royal Patronage and N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd. have announced their readiness to elevate Architect Expo '62 to an ASEAN-level event. This year, over 850 leading companies will showcase thousands of brands from 40 countries worldwide, demonstrating their capabilities and showcasing products, services, and technologies related to architecture and construction materials from April 30 to May 5 at Impact Muang Thong Thani.
Dr. Atchaphol Dusitnanont, President of the Siam Architects Association under Royal Patronage stated, "The Architect Expo is the largest architecture, materials, and construction technology exhibition in the ASEAN region, organized to showcase potential and present advancements in architecture. It also aims to raise awareness of the architect profession's role in society. This event is not only for professionals in architecture but also for those involved and the general public interested in design and construction. This year marks the 33rd edition of the event, themed ‘Green Living’, focusing on sustainable architectural design, innovative construction materials, and integrating local wisdom to address environmental issues sustainably. We are honored to have Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn inaugurate Architect Expo '62 on Tuesday, April 30, 2019."
Dr. Atcharawan Jutharat, Chair of Architect Expo '62 added, "In addition to showcasing products from various countries that present interesting new construction material innovations, there will also be thematic exhibitions by the Siam Architects Association showcasing environmentally friendly construction material innovations and the integration of local wisdom with technology to address current environmental issues. Attendees will experience a full 'Green Experience,' from selecting environmentally friendly construction materials to utilizing various materials post-event."
"At the event, everyone will encounter an international design competition, ‘ASA International Design Competition 2019’, with this year's design challenge being 'Uncanny Sustainability' to discover creative design ideas that are sustainable and different from traditional forms. Renowned architects will serve as judges. Additionally, there will be the ‘ASA Forum 2019’, an international architecture seminar featuring prominent architects as speakers.
Notable speakers include Mr. Kai Uwe Bergmann from Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), Mr. Nico Kienzl from Atelier Ten, Ms. Sanne van Der Burgh from MVRDV, Mr. Asawin Chuchotitham from Foster + Partners, Mr. Apichart Srirajanapinyong, Mr. Chanasit Cholasuk from Stu/D/O, and Mr. Kamron Sutthi from Eco Architect," Dr. Atcharawan added.
Mr. Sakchai Phatthaprichakul, Managing Director of N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd. stated, "The exhibition business plays a crucial role in driving the economy. Last year, exhibitions in Thailand generated over 200 billion baht in revenue, with over 30 million attendees, including more than 1 million foreigners. The MICE industry in Thailand is expected to grow by about 6-10% in 2019."
"For the preparation of Architect Expo '62, over 850 leading companies from Thailand and abroad will participate, along with 16 international pavilions from countries including Australia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK, the USA, and Vietnam. It is anticipated that there will be over 400 business matching meetings during the event. NEO has invited companies in the architecture and construction sectors from across the ASEAN region, especially from neighboring CLMV countries, to attend, with an expected transaction value of over 10 billion baht," Mr. Sakchai added.
Mr. Ajinwet Wongthong, Senior Project Manager of N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd., stated, "The construction market in ASEAN has grown at an average of 5.2% from 2016 to 2020, and it is projected that within the next five years, the investment value in construction will reach 2.9 trillion US dollars. For Thailand's construction industry, growth was about 5% in 2018, and it is expected to increase by 7-9% from 2018 to 2020."
"This year, we are organizing Architect Expo under the theme Green Living to invite everyone to explore new environmentally friendly products and technologies. Currently, the green building market is gaining attention, with a global growth rate of 13% per year, continuing until 2020. In Thailand, the number of green buildings has increased from just 55 to 240 last year, and this year it is expected to reach 252 buildings," Mr. Ajinwet added.
At Architect Expo '62, exhibitors are preparing to showcase highlight products, such as SCG Cement-Building Materials Co., Ltd. presenting IoT technology integrated with various home products for consumer convenience and comfort under the platform called ‘Smart Living Solution’. Crocodile Corporation Ltd. will showcase GColor by Graphenstone, a natural paint suitable for both interior and exterior use, certified by Cradle to Cradle, a high standard for environmentally friendly products that are safe to use and help reduce global warming, as well as being biodegradable and non-toxic to the environment. Thamsorn Co., Ltd. will present a dual water storage tank with a pump, an innovative design that saves space and aims to improve quality of life while being environmentally conscious. TPI Polene Public Company Limited will demonstrate innovative nano paint products that have received a 5-star energy-saving label, which will help reduce household expenses and be environmentally friendly, aligning with the theme of the Green Concept.
Mogen (Thailand) Co., Ltd. will present sanitary ware and bathroom furniture that integrates nature with modern technology, using colors and patterns inspired by nature. Häfele (Thailand) Ltd. will showcase numerous innovative products, such as digital door locks for convenience and enhanced security, smart lighting control systems, and exterior sliding doors that help block sunlight and reduce indoor temperatures.
Additionally, there will be many other interesting innovations, such as translucent laminates by AICA from Japan, Beach Pool! bringing beach and sea innovation into homes, and HALIO glass from AGC that can control brightness via mobile devices.
