On May 27, 2018, reporters reported that Booking.com conducted a survey of 21,500 travelers from 29 countries, revealing that 79% of Thai travelers intend to spend wisely by setting a budget in advance, while 58% are not very strict about their budget. In 2019, travelers are expected to spend more to experience various activities, with over 55% of Thai travelers planning to increase their spending next year in exchange for experiences, entertainment, and interesting attractions compared to this year. As many as 68% stated that travelers prioritize experiences over material possessions. Additionally, next year, Thai travelers are likely to spend more on activities, entertainment, and attractions in popular areas.

Regarding how to plan a budget for experiences, Booking.com's survey revealed that Thai travelers are willing to sacrifice certain things in exchange for desired experiences. As many as three-quarters, or 76%, indicated that Thai tourists plan to spend their budgets most effectively for next year's trips to have enough money for other trips and to experience more than in 2018. For instance, the majority of Thai travelers, 58%, said they are willing to skip popular tourist spots if the costs are too high.

Moreover, there is a trend in tourism that will also affect travel budget management in 2019. Tourism authorities will encourage people to travel during the off-peak season or explore less popular areas. According to Booking.com's survey, most Thai travelers responded positively to this idea, with some willing to stay in accommodations outside the city center (57%) or travel during the off-peak season (62%), and 63% are willing to share their travel plans with tourism organizations to receive tailored advice for their trips.
