The Engineering Institute of Thailand Announces the Largest National Engineering Event 2018 in Thailand Under the Theme "Smart Engineering for Modern Life Towards the Future of Thailand"
The Engineering Institute of Thailand under the Royal Patronage (EIT) held a press conference to reaffirm its readiness for the National Engineering 2018 event under the theme “Smart Engineering for Modern Life Towards the Future of Thailand” (Engineering for Society: Smart Engineering, Smart Life, Smart Nation). The event aims to be the largest academic seminar and showcase of engineering products in Thailand, highlighting a significant gathering of engineering trends that should not be missed. Attendees can expect to see smart and safe home technologies, innovations in electric vehicles (EVs), and robots designed to assist in industrial labor. There will also be a special lecture on national strategies to drive Thailand towards a smart society, presented by ministers from four ministries. The event is scheduled to take place from November 1 to 3, 2018, at Impact Forum Hall 9, Muang Thong Thani.

Dr. Tosaporn Sriaem, Chairman of the National Engineering 2018 event, stated, “This year marks the 13th consecutive National Engineering event, aimed at being the largest academic seminar and showcase of engineering products in Thailand. This year’s theme, “Smart Engineering for Modern Life Towards the Future of Thailand” (Engineering for Society: Smart Engineering, Smart Life, Smart Nation), aligns with the government’s policy to reform Thailand into a new era driven by intelligence, elevating society towards a sustainable smart life and smart nation. It also serves as a hub for updating engineering innovation trends, exchanging, reviewing, and developing engineering standards. Furthermore, it will showcase engineering technologies from various government and private sectors that reflect the changing trends of human lifestyles in the future and support the new direction of the country. We hope that participants will learn about Thailand’s advanced engineering innovations and update themselves on global engineering technology trends. This event will be the largest knowledge hub for engineering technology, divided into three zones:
1) Academic Seminar Zone featuring over 80 interesting seminar topics related to the advancements in the engineering profession as a key driver for the government’s New S-Curve reform. There will also be an International Forum for knowledge exchange and updates on engineering trends from experts and engineers worldwide. A highlight will be special lectures from ministers of four ministries on the following topics:
- “Industry Transformation Thailand 4.0” by Dr. Somchai Harnhirun, Deputy Minister of Industry
- “Transportation Strategy, Nation Building Strategy” by Mr. Akhom Termpithya, Minister of Transport
- “Digital Transformation According to National Strategy” by Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Digital Economy and Society
- “Energy Strategy, A Key National Cost” by Dr. Siri Jirapongphan, Minister of Energy
Additionally, there will be discussions on rail system standards related to high-speed rail projects and special lectures on various topics such as the EEC project, transportation, new engineering standards, education, and innovation.
2) Engineering Technology Competition Zone featuring competitions such as Battle Robot Warrior and Drone for Firefighting.
3) Engineering Clinic Zone offering free consultations on home issues like subsidence and cracks by over 150 volunteer engineers from the Engineering Institute of Thailand.
4) Engineering Technology Product Exhibition Zone

Highlights of the engineering technology innovations showcased at this event include electric vehicle robots (EV Cars), smart home models, and technologies related to Big Data and IoT, demonstrating their importance for future living. There will also be an exhibition on the Tham Luang cave rescue in Chiang Rai, showcasing the engineering technologies used in the cave exploration to rescue the 13 lives of the Wild Boar Academy team. Furthermore, the event will provide a platform for engineers from Thailand, ASEAN, and internationally to reunite and exchange perspectives to elevate engineering standards. The National Engineering 2018 event will feature over 100 leading engineering and technology exhibitors, with an expected attendance of at least 25,000 participants from Thailand, ASEAN, and abroad. We aim for attendees, including the general public, engineers, government agencies, and businesses, to learn about engineering standards crucial for national development and update themselves on new technology trends that businesses must learn and adapt to create innovations and products that meet future demands. The general public will also have the opportunity to update on future technology trends and learn or become aware of the need to adapt to keep pace with the rapidly approaching future. We invite entrepreneurs, engineering agencies, students, and interested individuals to join the National Engineering 2018 event from November 1 to 3, 2018, at Impact Forum Hall 9, Muang Thong Thani,” Dr. Tosaporn concluded.

During the press conference for the National Engineering 2018 event, a discussion was also held on the topic “Smart Home: Modern and Comfortable Living”, featuring esteemed speakers such as Mr. Sarunpong Achsuntorn, Assistant Governor for Planning and Development of the Provincial Electricity Authority, and Mr. Wachirachai Koonamwattana, Director of the Business Transformation Office and Managing Director of Innovative Solutions at SCG Cement-Building Materials Co., Ltd., to highlight the importance of engineering technology in improving quality of life and enhancing living standards in the future. This is one of the innovations that attendees will encounter and experience at the National Engineering 2018 event.
