SCG Showcases Green Innovation with Low-Carbon Cement at Cemtech ASIA 2026, Leading the Way Towards Net Zero Pathway in ASEAN
SCG, a leader in low-carbon cement in ASEAN, co-hosted the Cemtech ASIA 2026, a global conference and exhibition where cement industry leaders from around the world gathered to experience new innovations and technologies. The event aimed to expand business opportunities amidst challenges and adapt to environmental measures and the reduction of global resource impacts, steering towards a low-carbon cement industry in line with the Net Zero pathway from June 14-17, 2026.

During the event, SCG propelled the cement industry with tangible low-carbon cement innovations. Mr. Surachai Nimlaor, President of SCG Cement and Green Solutions, stated, "SCG, as a leader in low-carbon cement, is committed to creating new innovations to reduce resource impacts and enhance environmental friendliness, continuously lowering carbon dioxide emissions in the production process to meet the needs of the construction industry in ASEAN and the global market."
SCG showcased its prototype low-carbon cement innovation, LC3, during the conference and invited attendees to visit the Thaluang plant in Saraburi province, highlighting the following:
·SCG LC3 Structural Cement is a low-carbon cement developed from limestone, calcined clay, and special blended materials, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30-40%. The production process also utilizes alternative fuels from biomass, such as rice husks and straw, accounting for up to 40%, along with over 35% renewable energy, without compromising the product's quality, certified by the international standard EPD (Environmental Product Declaration).

·SCG has pioneered the installation of the Rondo Heat Battery at the Thaluang cement plant in Saraburi, marking the first implementation in ASEAN. This system converts clean energy into thermal energy stored in specially developed refractory bricks at temperatures up to 1,500 degrees Celsius, providing continuous heat for 24 hours with an efficiency of up to 97% and a lifespan of over 40 years.
·Refractory Solutions from SRIC, a leader in refractory materials, introduced innovations and technologies including:
o Anti-Hydration Brick, developed as the world's first, extends the storage life of refractory bricks from 6 months to 24 months, significantly reducing losses in the production line.
o Thermal Media for Heat Battery, a heat storage material developed in collaboration with Rondo Energy, achieves an energy storage efficiency of up to 97%, supporting energy supply throughout the production process for 24 hours.
·Solar Floating, a floating solar power generation system at the Thaluang cement plant in Saraburi, can produce 16.6 million kWh of electricity annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 8,000 tons CO₂ equivalent per year, optimizing the water surface area in the plant for resource utilization and reflecting the integration of renewable energy into the production process.
Being a co-host for this event demonstrates global confidence in SCG's potential, opening opportunities to expand new business partnerships while exchanging technology and knowledge with leading cement manufacturers worldwide. SCG is committed to fostering global collaboration to drive the country's cement industry towards the Net Zero Pathway as a leader in the cement industry in ASEAN.
