Mr. Rattasart Chidchue, Governor of Krabi stated, “Krabi has been recognized as a model sustainable tourism city, beautiful in nature, culture, and the diverse lifestyles of its people who coexist harmoniously, along with continuously developed infrastructure. Recently, Krabi International Airport has expanded its passenger terminal to connect to the global market fully. After the opening of Central Krabi, I believe it will serve as the 'city's living room' to welcome visitors, showcasing the excellent cooperation between the government, private sector, and community that will drive Krabi forward steadily and elevate the province's image to a true global destination.”

Dr. Nattakitti Tangpoolsinthana, Managing Director of Marketing at Central Pattana Public Company Limited stated, “Central Krabi will be the first sustainable shopping center in Thailand aiming for international certification EDGE Certification - Zero Level, targeting to reduce the Carbon Footprint from the construction process, which is a global trend in shopping center development that accommodates future lifestyles. This aligns with the vision of 'Krabi Prototype', where all sectors work together to elevate Krabi to be a hub for sustainable tourism that is practical and truly visitable, combined with Krabi's potential, which is distinguished by its beautiful nature, culture, and the diverse lifestyles of its people, along with unique food and art, making Krabi a different and memorable destination, ready to welcome quality tourists from around the world. Therefore, we are developing the Central Krabi project to move in the same direction under the concept 'Made by Krabi', allowing the community to genuinely participate, conveying local identity, and reflecting the needs of the people of Krabi to create shared pride and elevate the city to the global stage sustainably.”

“Additionally, a key strategy to attract international tourists is to create awareness through various partners, including airlines, Telco groups, and OTAs, along with offering Tourist Privileges and Welcome Packages to provide a different experience from the moment they arrive. At the same time, we are also pushing Krabi to become a Digital Nomad Hub with its beautiful beaches, fresh air, and a lifestyle that perfectly blends work-life balance. The expansion of Krabi International Airport and Central Krabi shopping center are crucial components in enhancing the capacity to accommodate quality tourists from around the world,” Dr. Nattakitti added.

The First Sustainable-Lifestyle Shopping Centre in Thailand, a pride of the people of Krabi
- Energy Saving: Aiming to reduce electricity consumption by over 40% and compensate for carbon credits up to 100% by designing the building as Semi-Outdoor to allow natural airflow, using energy-efficient air conditioning systems that save 15–20%, and installing Solar Cell panels covering 14,400 square meters with a production capacity of over 3.2 megawatts.
2. Waste Management: Developing a Green Road behind the shopping center in collaboration with Chiang Mai University, which can help reduce plastic bags going to landfills by over 2.5 tons, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 25.89 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and establishing a Recycle Station for community members to exchange waste for cash, encouraging waste sorting.
3. Upcycling & Creative Use of Waste: Using waste to create art and design, such as Eco-Art Hoarding and Art Installations from marine waste, producing recycled furniture from plastic, shell waste, and rice husks, reducing the use of new plastic by over 50%, and using furniture made from Hybrid Cement to reduce carbon footprint by up to 21%.
4. Krabi Collection CSR: Collaborating with partners and communities to create shared value, such as Sabina and Good Goods, using recycled fishing nets to produce eco-friendly fashion, Hug Craft selling eco-friendly products, and local communities participating in managing waste nets to reduce marine waste problems and generate income for locals.
Additionally, Central Krabi also supports the installation and improvement of water pumping stations with a budget of around 10 million baht, covering the construction of pumping stations, installation of pressure-boosting pumps and equipment, transformers, and water supply pipelines to enhance the efficiency of water supply to meet local demand.
Central Krabi is designed with Landscape Architecture that respects nature and the city's scenery, avoiding tall buildings that obstruct views, but integrating buildings harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. The inspiration comes from Krabi's identity, including beautiful islands, where each building is designed to resemble small islands scattered in the sea, with ceilings decorated with curved lines resembling palm leaves, creating a shady atmosphere as if walking through palm gardens. The curved roofs symbolize long-tail boats lined along the beach, while advertisements and various media are designed to blend in with the surrounding nature. Another highlight is the introduction of the mascot 'Black Crab', an important symbol representing the abundance of Krabi, inviting everyone to participate in naming it to celebrate local identity with pride.

Tourist Destination Hub
Krabi has the potential to become a “Tourism Powerhouse of Andaman”, a quality tourist city generating income in the Top 5 of the country, excluding Bangkok* (1st Phuket, 2nd Chonburi, 3rd Surat Thani, 4th Chiang Mai, and 5th Krabi), and Top 3 in the South. The Tourism Authority of Thailand predicts that in 2025, Krabi will generate tourism revenue reaching 100 billion baht, while in 2024, Krabi welcomed over 6.3 million tourists, mostly high-quality tourists from Europe, Malaysia, India, and Singapore, particularly from Sweden and Denmark, who prefer long stays and work as Digital Nomads, aligning with the new global tourism trends.

In terms of Global Recognition as a global destination, Maya Bay ranks among the most beautiful beaches* and Krabi is also a Hollywood Film Location for famous movies such as The Beach, Fast & Furious 9, and Jurassic World. Additionally, it is rich in beautiful cultural traditions, such as ancient beads from Klong Thom, wooden boat carving, batik fabric, and traditional performances like Nora, Rong Ngeng, and the boat floating ceremony of fishermen. These charms contribute to Soft Power, attracting quality tourists from around the world.
