Where Does Your Money Go? KBTG Introduces MeowJot, a Thai Fintech Insight to Help Thais Manage Their Expenses and Build Financial Discipline
The latest data from the Bank of Thailand reveals a shocking truth about the financial situation of Thais. Out of 130 million deposit accounts nationwide, 123 million accounts hold less than 50,000 baht. These figures reflect a savings crisis among the Thai population. Additionally, Deloitte Thailand has reported that over 63% of young Thais from Gen Y and Gen Z live paycheck to paycheck, which is higher than the global average of 52%. With rising living costs and the need to spend to support their lifestyles, we often hear the phrase, "I don't know where my salary goes just a few days after it's paid."

Want to spend mindfully but can't seem to do it?
Many young people want to know where their money goes each month so they can cut or reduce certain expenses, but there are still no tools that provide a clear overview of their spending. Creating a manual expense tracking table is cumbersome, time-consuming, and requires a high level of discipline. Even though they know it's important, the need to record every transaction across multiple banking apps can be discouraging, leading to a lack of a clear financial overview.
KBTG, the technology arm of Kasikorn Bank, understands this pain point well and has developed the "MeowJot" app, an automatic expense tracking application that simplifies the process of tracking expenses for everyone who wants to understand their spending better.

MeowJot operates on a simple principle: it reads data from money transfer slips in banking apps and automatically records expenses. Currently, it supports data reading from 19 leading banking apps, including Truemoney Wallet, and consolidates spending summaries from all banks in one place, both daily and monthly, in a graphical format that shows the proportion of spending in each category. Additionally, it features automatic category selection from a database of over 500,000 stores in the MeowJot system and remembers each user's spending behavior. For instance, when money is transferred to a regular coffee shop, the app remembers that this is for coffee, and the next time money is transferred to the same shop, it will automatically categorize it, saving time on expense tracking.
Features Designed for Modern Lifestyles
In addition to automatic tracking, MeowJot also includes features that meet real usage needs, such as setting up "repeat entries" for regular monthly expenses like rent, car payments, or subscriptions on various platforms. It also has a "comparison graph" system that allows users to see spending trends weekly, monthly, and annually, helping them identify months when they overspend or save. With the addition of #tags, users can categorize their expenses more precisely, such as #coffee, #JapanTrip, #gifts, making it easier to analyze spending accurately. For those who need data for financial planning, MeowJot allows easy export of data in Excel or CSV format.

Mr. Chatchapan Siridanupat, Managing Director of Kasikorn Business-Technology Group (KBTG), stated, "We recognize that most Thais want to improve their financial health, but the existing tools are still too complicated. That's why we designed MeowJot to be a 'friendly companion,' a user-friendly fintech solution that makes it easy for everyone to start planning their finances. We believe that good technology should simplify life, and we are confident that MeowJot users will gain a clearer understanding of their expenses and effectively build financial discipline."

Peace of Mind with Bank-Level Security
In today's world, personal data is valuable, making security paramount. MeowJot is developed by KBTG and uses security standards equivalent to banking apps. The app only accesses images of money transfer slips from banking apps and does not touch any other images or personal data on the phone, ensuring users can trust that their privacy is protected. Furthermore, MeowJot has received international recognition, winning the Demark 2025 Winner in the Design Excellent Award – System, Service, and Digital Platform category and being nominated for the UX Design Award 2025 from Germany.
“MeowJot” is confident that users can genuinely reduce expenses after seeing an overview of their spending.
When we have a clear overview of our spending, we can make better decisions about where to cut costs or where to increase savings. MeowJot helps us understand ourselves better; with every money transfer automatically recorded and categorized clearly, financial planning becomes much easier. Based on user data, individuals typically have 2-3 accounts with income and expenses, with major spending categories being food, transportation, and shopping. After using the app for about a month, many users have found it easier to reduce expenses in entertainment and shopping categories.
MeowJot offers free services for new users who want to use basic features. For those seeking more advanced features, there are packages like MeowSilver, which adds automatic features and basic insights, and MeowGold for financial planners who want the most detailed data management.
