Dusit Central Park Unveils New Landmark for City Dwellers: Thailand's Largest Urban Rooftop Park
Viman Suriyah Co., Ltd., the developer of Dusit Central Park, a world-class mixed-use project under the concept 'Here for Bangkok', and the developer of The Residences at Dusit Central Park, the finest luxury residential project in the Super Core CBD, has showcased key components of Thailand’s Largest Urban Roof Park, the largest rooftop park in the heart of the city, located within the project. Spanning an impressive 7 rai (11,200 square meters), it is fully equipped with lifestyle functions that integrate nature, including trees, animals, and small insects, establishing a new landmark of happiness that caters to the lifestyles of everyone, regardless of gender or age, both Thai citizens and international tourists. The project invites people from around the world to be part of a new chapter in history with the campaign 'Roof Park at Dusit Central Park: The Landmark of Thai Pride', a naming contest for the rooftop park, with prizes including a package for a flight and accommodation at Dusit Thani Kyoto, Japan, and more. The contest runs from July 1 to August 15.

Supajee Sutthumphan, CEO of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, stated, “This Roof Park is the result of the visionary leadership of our management team, aiming to develop the mixed-use area of Dusit Central Park into more than just a business space in a prime location. It is designed to give back to society, welcoming everyone, regardless of gender or age, and catering to all needs and lifestyles, to enhance happiness and improve the quality of life and urban living for both Thai people and tourists worldwide. This is achieved through the creation of a large green space of 7 rai (11,200 square meters) that connects the 4th to the 7th floors, serving as the heart that links all components of the Dusit Central Park project together. This marks the first time in the real estate industry that a large-scale urban project has created a green space for public benefit while also enhancing the architectural beauty of the project, alongside providing an extended park view that seamlessly connects with Lumpini Park. Presenting this green space to society also enhances the national image in terms of economic aspects by attracting both Thai citizens and people from around the world, social aspects by providing a green space accessible to everyone according to their lifestyles, and urban ecosystem aspects by planting species that increase oxygen, absorb carbon dioxide, trap and reduce PM10 and PM2.5 dust, lower temperatures, and increase humidity with waterfalls dispersed throughout.

The creation of Roof Park not only meets functional needs but also promotes a close connection with nature, enhancing health and well-being through a design that accommodates diverse lifestyles. It serves as a viewpoint, a gathering space, a dining area, a playground, and an amphitheater that can host various activities, including art performances, music, and mini-events. Additionally, the development aims to create a self-sustaining ecosystem by carefully selecting plants, making this area a home for beneficial birds, insects, and small animals that support the existence of nature. This approach addresses sustainability by creating a quality urban ecosystem for everyone. Our goal is for Roof Park to be the “Largest Urban Rooftop Park in Thailand,” easily accessible as it connects seamlessly with public transport, including the BTS Sala Daeng station and the MRT Silom station, comparable to world-class parks like Central Park in New York City and Hyde Park in London, designed for everyone’s use in a prime urban location.

Supajee added, “In addition to creating environmental and ecosystem benefits that elevate urban ecology, this initiative increases the quality of green spaces in Bangkok and raises societal awareness about the importance of preserving green areas, which greatly benefits humans in terms of mental and emotional well-being. By incorporating nature into every aspect, such as shapes, patterns, and textures, and creating green landscapes from natural materials, along with the sounds of birds, waterfalls, and cool breezes, we enhance experiences through all five senses, allowing visitors to feel a deep connection with nature. This perspective on work can help foster calmness, relaxation, and improve work efficiency, stimulate creativity, and enhance management relationships, including problem-solving, reasoning, and strategic planning that leads to effective outcomes. Thus, this Roof Park is a space that elevates the quality of life alongside urban quality and can sustainably grow on a global scale.”

Thachapol Suntharajarn, Managing Director of Landscape Collaboration Co., Ltd., the landscape architect for Roof Park at Dusit Central Park, stated, “For the design of this green space, we have presented a perspective that creates an identity for the project while perfectly accommodating the needs of urban dwellers through three key concepts:
1. Continuing the Beautiful Heritage of Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok, in a contemporary context by incorporating various identities, such as creating waterfalls that converge, fish ponds, and planting frangipani trees.
2. Integrating Universal Design with Inclusive Design for All, focusing on designs that cater to diverse lifestyles, whether for exercise, relaxation, or spending time with family and pets.
3. Urban Sanctuary & Ecosystem to create a unique ecosystem through the selection of various plant species, including shrubs, trees, aquatic plants, and ground cover. The team has presented perspectives to create an ecosystem while studying Thai literature, such as Nirath Phu Khao Tong, Nirath Suphanburi, and Nirath Mueang Klaeng, to understand native Thai plants and auspicious trees, such as the water olive, which is the origin of the name Bangkok, along with selecting species that can trap dust and provide habitats for beneficial insects and small animals.
The ecosystem concept emphasizes nature therapy, free from chemicals such as pesticides or chlorine, making this green space a suitable home for dragonflies, beetles, butterflies, and squirrels. In the future, it can also serve as a natural learning center for both children and adults. Importantly, we have considered the utility of the space by incorporating 'Thermal Comfort' as an additional factor, ensuring that this area not only produces oxygen, absorbs dust and carbon dioxide but also provides shade from trees and refreshing moisture from waterfalls, creating a pleasant atmosphere where visitors can enjoy their time all day long.”

The project has launched a campaign to welcome this Roof Park and invites Thai people worldwide to be part of the history of this new quality green space in Bangkok with the campaign 'Roof Park at Dusit Central Park: The Landmark of Thai Pride', a naming contest for Roof Park from July 1 to August 15, 2025.
