SCG Cement and Green Solutions and Serendix, a Japanese startup specializing in housing, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance construction capabilities through the application of 3D Printing technology combined with a specially formulated mortar for 3D printing. This mortar boasts a smooth, beautiful texture, durability in all environments, and suitability for complex construction projects. The collaboration aims to drive green construction innovations that support the growth of the modern construction industry in Japan and strengthen its presence on the global stage, addressing the needs of modern housing by reducing carbon emissions, labor, and increasing speed.

Mr. Surachai Nimlaor, CEO of SCG Cement and Green Solutions, stated that SCG, as a leader in sustainable cement and construction products, is committed to promoting Green Solutions that meet quality, speed, and environmental friendliness. The signing of this MOU with Serendix marks another significant step in introducing SCG 3D Printing Mortar to enhance construction quality, saving both time and resources, particularly in Japan, which values advanced technology and sustainability standards in construction.

“This collaboration is not just about exporting quality construction materials; it is about transferring knowledge and developing deep technology between the two countries. SCG will not only provide quality materials but also collaborate at the engineering level with the Serendix team to co-develop a mortar formula suitable for Japanese printers in various weather conditions,”

Serendix is a Japanese startup founded to address housing issues through 3D Printing technology. Their prototype home has been recorded as Japan's first 3D-Printed house, completed in just 23 hours. With a commitment to building homes quickly, robustly, and with quality, they utilize SCG 3D Printing Mortar with support from SCG's expert team, who developed a mortar formula tailored for 3D Printing that suits Japan's environmental conditions and climate. This mortar is strong, supports complex designs, allows for free-form construction, is precise, and manages projects effectively while considering carbon reduction, dust, waste, and labor reduction—all crucial factors that the company must implement at every stage to ensure the materials delivered are effective in all situations.

Currently, the construction market using 3D Printing technology, especially in Japan, the United States, and European countries, is rapidly expanding. While Thailand is still in the early stages, there is a continuous growth trend driven by the development of green construction projects and the need to reduce labor and material costs effectively. SCG is recognized as one of the first developers of mortar materials for 3D Printing that can be produced and utilized effectively across all dimensions of construction.

“This collaboration with Serendix represents a significant turning point that will transform the construction industry into an era of building homes with 3D Printing technology—quickly, efficiently, and environmentally friendly. This aligns with SCG's goal of driving Green Construction, which will help create a sustainable construction ecosystem at the regional level while increasing sales opportunities in Japan and expanding strongly onto the global stage,” Mr. Surachai concluded.
