At the press conference, we were honored by Dr. Natthakit Tangpoonsinthana, CEO of Central Pattana Public Company Limited, along with Mr. Worawit Tantiprayuk, Director of Business Development at Spicy Disc Co., Ltd., Ms. Treeranun Likhawong, Senior Director of Public Relations and Partnerships at Central Department Store Group under Central Retail, Mr. Phimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, Ms. Sunanta Hamontree, Director of Domestic Public Relations at the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ms. Neef Marie Collier-Smith, UNDP Representative in Thailand, Ms. Metinee Kingpayom, CEO of Muse by Metinee, Mr. Anan Chumaporn, President and Founder of Narumit Pride Co., Ltd., and Ms. Panachak Na Krat, Beauty Product Manager at Galderma (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Dr. Natthakit Tangpoonsinthana, CEO of Central Pattana Public Company Limited stated, “Central Pattana views Pride Month as more than just equality, but as freedom, human rights, and limitless equality regarding gender, which are three fundamental rights everyone should have. Central shopping centers nationwide are ready to be spaces that allow everyone to express their identities freely. Pride Month is an important festival that drives tourism and the economy. Central Pattana is the No. 1 Pride Landmark that truly creates a massive impact nationwide and expands the event space to double size every year, from 9 branches in 2023 to 39 branches in 2025, expecting over 1.3 million attendees nationwide. We thank our strong partnerships with both public and private sectors that continuously support and elevate equality in Thailand, achieving the same-sex marriage law as the first in Southeast Asia, third in Asia after Taiwan and Nepal, and 38th in the world.”

The Rainbow Economy is rapidly and powerfully growing, especially in tourism, entertainment, and lifestyle industries, driven by the global LGBTQIAN+ community of 400-800 million people, accounting for 5-10% of the world's population. In Thailand, there are over 6 million people, expected to generate over 150 billion baht annually and contribute up to 0.3% to GDP. The same-sex marriage law also positively impacts tourism and investment, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) estimating revenue from the Rainbow Tourism segment to reach 2 billion US dollars annually. The global market value for this segment is projected to be around 357 billion US dollars by 2025, with a growth trend towards 604.34 billion US dollars by 2032. Meanwhile, Thailand's Soft Power, such as Girl Love series, has gained global popularity, attracting hundreds of millions of views and generating significant cultural influence. With serious support, it is expected to generate up to 2 billion baht annually, reflecting the growth of Rainbow Entertainment.

Revealing Global Insights on Diversity
Data shows significant global changes in perspectives on sexual diversity, especially among Gen Z, with 23% identifying as LGBTQIAN+, the highest proportion compared to all generations, reflecting a new mindset that values limitless freedom. Millennials account for 14% and are the main drivers in the early stages of the Pride Movement, while Gen X and Baby Boomers are at 5% and 3%, respectively, viewing it as a niche activity. Data from the European Union in 2023 reveals openness at the policy level, with high support rates for same-sex marriage, such as Sweden and the Netherlands at 94%, Denmark at 93%, and France at 79%, reflecting the increasing acceptance of sexual diversity in mainstream society.

Thailand's Potential as an LGBTQIAN+ Hub in Asia, Ready to Compete for World Pride 2030
“Thailand is recognized as the world leader in gender reassignment surgery, expected to drive medical tourism value to 16 billion baht by 2025. At the same time, Thailand is a safe haven for the LGBTQIAN+ community from around the world, especially tourists from China, Korea, and the Middle East, who view Thailand as a cultural celebration. With the Soft Power from Thailand's influential Girl Love series and Drag Culture, Thailand has the potential to host World Pride 2030 with pride,” Dr. Natthakit concluded.
Mr. Phimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok stated, “Bangkok is committed to pushing Thailand to be the host of World Pride 2030, which will be the first time in Asia's history. We are ready in terms of infrastructure, world-class amenities, safety, and importantly, the power of collaboration between public and private sectors. This year marks a significant milestone as we move forward to propose our nomination in Washington, D.C., aiming to host World Pride in Bangkok, which will create economic, tourism, and global image impacts. I commend Central Pattana's role as the initiator and promoter of the Pride for All campaign for the 6th consecutive year and as a key force collaborating with Bangkok for the past 3 years to create Pride landmarks in major cities nationwide, reflecting the power of collaboration that can create safe spaces and truly embrace diversity. The overwhelming public response, such as the registration of over 600 same-sex marriages on the first day of the law's enactment, further emphasizes that Bangkok and Thailand are ready to step up as hosts of this meaningful global event,” Mr. Phimuk stated.
Ms. Neef Marie Collier-Smith, UNDP Representative in Thailand stated, “The passage of the same-sex marriage law has positioned Thailand as a global leader in equality, but legal rights are just the beginning — the real challenge is to make those rights a reality in every aspect of life. At UNDP, we believe that the workplace is a crucial starting point for this change. We collaborate with community leaders, educational institutions, and international partners to develop an Inclusion Toolkit, a practical guide that helps businesses create safe, inclusive, and truly opportunity-filled environments. The reality we face is that over 50% of the LGBTQ+ community in Thailand still faces discrimination in the workplace — and this must end. It's time for the business sector to step up as leaders in driving this change concretely,” Ms. Neef stated.
Mr. Anan Chumaporn, President and Founder of Narumit Pride Co., Ltd. stated, “Six years ago, Central Pattana was the first organization to create a Pride space and celebrate Pride Month, which has become a significant inspiration for us and made us realize that ‘it is possible’. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to discuss with CentralWorld about wanting to see a Pride event as grand as the Countdown event because we view Pride not just as a community event but as the power of Thai society as a whole. Today, Narumit Pride is ready to join hands with the government and all partners, including Central Pattana, to amplify Thailand's voice on the global stage, declaring to the world that we are ready to move forward with pride on the path of equality and human dignity,” Mr. Anan stated.
Ms. Metinee Kingpayom, CEO of Muse by Metinee stated, “This year marks the 6th year that Muse by Metinee collaborates with Central Pattana and CentralWorld to celebrate the opening of Pride Month. What started as a shared vision has become a driving force for equality, visibility, and love in all forms. We are proud to organize the parade and highlight performances from House of Heals, Thailand's number one drag house. This year, I will perform drag for the first time in my life, and I am excited to share the stage with the most powerful drag artists in Thailand. Although same-sex marriage has passed, the mission is not over. Equality must happen every day in society — at home, at work, and in schools. Muse by Metinee and Central Pattana will continue to work together to make Thailand a safe, open space and a global destination, including supporting Bangkok to host World Pride 2030. Thank you to the vital power from the LGBTQIAN+ community and all sectors that have pushed this path together, leading to tangible changes. Pride is not just a festival once a year but a power that should be present every day through the sharing of love, respect, and mutual acceptance,” Ms. Metinee stated.
