Central Pattana Public Company Limited is the leading real estate company in Thailand for sustainability, under the vision of Imagining better futures for all. The developer of the ‘Central Krabi’ shopping center, the first large-scale mixed-use project in the heart of Krabi, aims to enhance Krabi’s potential as a world-class destination known for its natural beauty and is committed to being a significant voice in raising awareness about the waste crisis by collaborating with Krabi Province, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Krabi Office, OCYCO marine waste management organization, and local artists to create Eco-Art Hoarding that tells the story of marine animals endangered by marine waste to raise awareness and promote sustainable tourism, reinforcing Central Pattana's readiness to care for the environment alongside Krabi Province.

The Eco-Art Hoarding on the fence of the ‘Central Krabi’ project is created from over 3,500 pieces of plastic waste from the sea, totaling over 360 kilograms, including PET bottles, HDPE, PP, bottle caps, plastic bags, ropes, and fishing net scraps, designed to depict endangered marine animals in Krabi such as Bryde's whales, whale sharks, and leatherback turtles. Each piece of plastic waste will not be painted but selected for its color to resemble marine animals, facilitating upcycling after the project is completed, reflecting the commitment to improve the sea of Krabi and the lives of its people, as expressed in the message ‘For a Better Sea, For a Better Life’ displayed on the artwork, to inspire environmental conservation and promote sustainable tourism while reinforcing Central Pattana's commitment to sustainability in every step of the project.

Mr. Angkool Silatewakul, Governor of Krabi Province, spoke about Krabi's potential, stating, “Krabi has received a global award as the best welcoming city for tourists, thanks to the beauty of nature and the kindness of local people. What makes Krabi unique is its tourism approach that emphasizes maintaining a balance between nature and local culture. Therefore, we promote environmentally conscious tourism and are committed to developing sustainable tourism.”

Dr. Natakitti Tangpoolsinthana, Managing Director of Marketing at Central Pattana Public Company Limited, discussed the opening of the Central Krabi project and the creation of the artwork, saying, “We want to be a voice to encourage people and tourists visiting Krabi to be aware of Sustainability and Mindful Travel to foster a strong ecosystem in the province and create economic sustainability for the country for Better Futures for us and future generations. The Eco-Art Hoarding uses recycled materials from over 3,500 pieces of plastic waste from the sea, totaling over 360 kilograms, designed to raise awareness and declare that we are ready to collaborate with Krabi to care for the environment together, For a Better Sea, For a Better Life.”

Ms. Soraya Homchuen, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Krabi Office, revealed the approach to promoting conservation tourism, stating, “The display of Eco-Art Hoarding at the Central Krabi project creatively uses marine waste to create beautiful sculptures, which is crucial in promoting Sustainability in Krabi. Importantly, we must work together across all sectors because this symbolizes the essence of collaboration to sustainably develop the province.”

Ms. Thanapakan Tiewpradit, CEO of OCYCO brand, responsible for marine waste management in Krabi Province, stated, “We work comprehensively on managing ‘marine waste’ to restore balance to life in the sea, aquatic animals, and communities sustainably. If not managed, plastic waste found in the sea and on the coast will become microplastics that pollute and endanger ecosystems and aquatic animals, including local communities. Therefore, our effort is to help reduce marine waste by upcycling recycled waste to create valuable products and establish a sustainable environmental care cycle.”

Mr. Narong Sanchorn, the artist behind the work, shared his intention in creating the Eco-Art Hoarding, saying, “Personally, I do not expect much, just that 1% of people start to think about caring for the sea and preventing waste from entering it because turtles are directly affected by eating plastic bags that resemble jellyfish, which can get stuck in their stomachs and lead to death, or whale sharks and Bryde's whales that die from being entangled in fishing nets. I want endangered animals in Krabi to continue living so that future generations can still see these marine creatures.”

The “Central Krabi” project is set to launch in October 2025, with a project value of 4.5 billion baht on a 114-rai area, aiming to reduce carbon footprint from the construction process to achieve EDGE Certification, designed to integrate the natural beauty of Krabi under the Fully-Integrated with Nature concept with panoramic viewpoints.
