One Bangkok Partners with 5 Leading Financial Institutions to Sign a Record-Breaking 50 Billion Baht Green Loan Agreement
One Bangkok has announced the signing of a long-term green loan agreement worth 50 billion baht in collaboration with five leading financial institutions in Thailand, including Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Krungsri Bank, Kasikorn Bank, and Siam Commercial Bank.
This collaboration marks the first time that five leading financial institutions in Thailand have jointly provided the highest value green loan in the country to support the development and operation of the One Bangkok project, a new landmark in the heart of Bangkok with an investment value of 120 billion baht. A green loan is a loan intended to support environmentally friendly projects and promote sustainability in both economic and social aspects. One Bangkok has received approval for this loan based on the project's alignment with sustainability principles, covering all stages from design, construction, to management, focusing on efficient resource and energy use, reducing environmental impact, and creating value for communities and society.
Mr. Panot Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Frasers Property Limited, stated, “The signing of this significant green loan agreement not only reflects the confidence that the five leading financial institutions have in the outstanding potential of One Bangkok as a large-scale real estate project that serves as a comprehensive business and lifestyle hub capable of attracting investment and enhancing Thailand's economy in the long term but also confirms the commitment of TCC Assets and Frasers Property as shareholders to leverage expertise and experience to develop this project into a model sustainable city that emphasizes efficient energy use, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and promotes natural resource conservation to improve the quality of life for people and society. This is evidenced by the successful achievement of project development goals at various stages according to a clear and continuous plan over time.
The support for this loan also reflects the confidence that the financial sector has in the long-term potential of the Thai real estate market, particularly in the high-quality green office segment, which continues to see growing market demand, as well as in the retail sector, luxury residential properties, and hotels, which benefit from the expansion of economic development and the tourism industry in Thailand. This strengthens confidence among both domestic and international investors, as One Bangkok has the potential to accommodate this growth by being a model green smart city in the heart of Bangkok, equipped with innovations to promote sustainable urban development. Recently, it became the first project in Thailand to receive LEED for Neighborhood Development certification at the platinum level, as well as WiredScore and SmartScore certifications at the platinum level. It is also aiming for WELL building certification to enhance the quality of life, comfort, and safety for residents and users.
One Bangkok officially opened on October 25, 2023, featuring retail spaces such as Parade and The Storeys, along with the One Bangkok Forum, a center for world-class events, and POST 1928, which will open in the next phase. Currently, two premium office buildings, Tower 3 and Tower 4, are already operational and have received positive responses from leading companies both domestically and internationally, with three more buildings set to open in the next phase. The luxury and lifestyle hotels include The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, which is set to open in December 2024, Andaz One Bangkok, which will open in 2025, and Fraser Suites Bangkok, expected to open in 2026, along with two more hotels planned for the next phase. Additionally, there are three luxury residential buildings that have received excellent responses from both Thai and international customers. The project also includes over 50 rai of green spaces and open areas, as well as arts and cultural programs, catering to all needs and enhancing the living experience in every dimension.
