Three Real Estate Associations officially opened the 46th Housing and Condo Expo, uniting over 150 exhibitors and more than 1,000 projects, along with numerous leading financial institutions, to stimulate the Thai economy. "The government recognizes that the Thai real estate sector is crucial to the national economy, contributing up to 5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In 2023, it achieved the highest GDP contribution, with a total industry value of approximately 1.1 trillion baht. Although the current real estate business situation is not bright, the Ministry of Finance has continuously supported the sector through initiatives like the Happy Home loan program, which has fully allocated 20 billion baht, and the Happy Life loan program, which has disbursed 18 billion baht with positive feedback. Recently, we are preparing to submit a Cabinet resolution to consider measures to stimulate the real estate sector through low-interest loans for buying, renovating, and building homes and condos, totaling 55 billion baht. This aims to assist low-income citizens in accessing affordable housing loans and improving their homes. If approved, these measures will serve as another government initiative to stimulate the economy and bring positive momentum into early next year," Mr. Pichai added.
