General Supachai Malaniyom, Chairman of the National Housing Authority, presided over the opening of the building and the handover of keys for the residential units in Phase 2 of the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project, Building D1. The event took place on August 16, 2024, at the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project, Building D1, Mitmaitree Road, Din Daeng District, Bangkok, with the presence of the National Housing Authority Board, Mr. Thaveepong Vichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, Ms. Sunee Srisongtaekul, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Ms. Korjirath Pongjanthasorn, Assistant Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, along with other executives from the National Housing Authority and residents of the project.

General Supachai Malaniyom stated that he was assigned by Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, to carry out operations with the public's interests as a priority. This includes focusing on the 5x5 policy to overcome the population crisis, which aims to empower the working-age population, enhance the quality and productivity of children and youth, create opportunities for the elderly, increase value for persons with disabilities, and establish a suitable ecosystem to enhance family security. The National Housing Authority Board has instructed the National Housing Authority to plan its operations comprehensively and continuously across all dimensions to meet the needs of the public and target communities as a top priority, alongside improving internal management, work quality, and services. Ensuring housing security for the public is one of the key objectives and missions of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) as part of the 20-year housing development strategic plan (2017-2036). The Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project is one of the initiatives that emphasizes housing security and improving the quality of life for residents in the Din Daeng community, which began construction in 1963 by the Department of Public Welfare, providing rental flats for low-income individuals, totaling 64 buildings with 4,144 units. In 1973, these were transferred to the National Housing Authority's management. Currently, these buildings are in a dilapidated state due to over 60 years of use. The National Housing Authority has been working on a master plan for the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project since 2000 to develop and enhance the quality of life for residents, requiring over 16 years of effort and commitment. The government has prioritized the participation of original residents by sending survey teams to create understanding about the urban renewal project at every step. Subsequently, the National Housing Authority presented the master plan for the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project to the Cabinet again, which approved it on August 17, 2016, dividing the project into four phases, totaling over 20,000 units. The first phase, Building G, consisting of 334 units, was completed in 2018 to accommodate former residents of flats 18-22.

Today (August 16, 2024) marks a significant opportunity for the residents of the Din Daeng community to move into the newly constructed Building D1 of the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project, which meets standards and enhances community development and housing security in all aspects—social, economic, and environmental. This will lead to improved quality of life for the community members, enabling them to be self-reliant, which is the foundation for sustainable social and national development. It is hoped that this new home will bring love and warmth to the Din Daeng community. Additionally, I have instructed the National Housing Authority to take good care of this home for the residents, ensuring it is a quality living space that reflects the trust the community has placed in us.

Mr. Thaveepong Vichaidit, Governor of the National Housing Authority, stated that the National Housing Authority is responding to the policy of Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, and the National Housing Authority Board has emphasized the importance of developing housing for low to middle-income individuals and vulnerable groups, ensuring they have affordable housing to reduce inequality and promote equality in Thai society, in line with the vision of "Building Homes, Creating Happiness for a Better Quality of Life." The National Housing Authority is therefore advancing its mission to provide housing for all age groups and target groups to ensure access to safe living conditions. The Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project is one of the proud initiatives of the National Housing Authority.

The Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project, Phase 2, Building D1, consists of a 35-story residential building with approximately 33 square meters per unit, totaling 612 units. Currently, 397 households from the original flats 23-32 have moved in between June 17 and August 11, 2024. The remaining 215 units in Building D1 are available, with 55 residents from Building A1 expressing interest in moving into Building D1. Following this, original residents will be invited to express their interest in moving into Buildings 3-4 of the Din Daeng Urban Renewal Project.
