"Pruksa" Promotes Green Procurement Policy to Achieve NET ZERO Goals in Partnership with "TOA" Using Eco-Friendly "Super Shield" Paint for Cooler Homes, Lower Electricity Bills, and Reduced Global Warming
"Pruksa" is committed to driving its business while caring for the environment. In collaboration with "TOA", the leading company in the paint and construction materials market, they are advancing their environmental mission under the concept of sustainable progress together. They are introducing the innovative eco-friendly paint "Super Shield" certified with the Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) label in Pruksa's projects, along with using low-carbon precast and green construction materials to create energy-efficient housing that reduces costs and cares for the environment simultaneously.

Mr. Uthen Lohachitpitak, CEO of Pruksa Holding Public Company Limited (PSH) stated that global warming is one of the environmental issues that has intensified every year. The rising temperatures lead to the problem of hot homes caused by heat accumulation from sunlight during the day, which is released at night, resulting in increased air conditioning usage. As an organization aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Pruksa has established a "Green Procurement" policy. This policy enhances the procurement guidelines and criteria for selecting partners, awarding bonus points for selecting partners and business allies, both new and existing, who produce environmentally friendly products and services. Consequently, Pruksa has chosen to use the eco-friendly paint "Super Shield" from TOA, which reflects sunlight and helps lower indoor temperatures, thereby reducing air conditioning usage.
Pruksa supports business partners with products and services that contribute to Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) or have a carbon footprint reduction label. If calculated from the use of Super Shield paint in Pruksa's projects since 2022, totaling 21 projects, it has been found to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 68.654 tons of CO2 equivalent (TonCO2e), equivalent to planting 3,991.5 trees, and also helps save energy and reduce electricity costs.

"In addition to using paint that reduces carbon emissions, conserves water, and is beneficial to the health of residents, Pruksa has received a Green Mission award from TOA as a green partner in driving Thailand towards sustainable development goals. We also use low-carbon precast that has received the Carbon Footprint Reduction label, which is the first and only precast in the industry in Thailand to be certified. Moreover, we utilize other construction materials that have the lowest greenhouse gas emissions in the same industry. These efforts reinforce Pruksa's vision of becoming a leader in creating a perfect quality of life for residents, ensuring sustainable growth under the concept of caring for both life and well-being," Mr. Uthen stated.

Mr. Jaturapat Tangkaravakun, CEO of TOA Paint (Thailand) Public Company Limited (TOA) mentioned that the rising global temperatures, entering the era of Global Boiling, have resulted in many areas experiencing record high temperatures. Even living in homes, one can feel the increasing heat, necessitating more energy use to cool down the interiors. This not only increases electricity costs but also exacerbates climate issues. TOA, as a leader in green innovation, develops products that prioritize health and are environmentally friendly. The Super Shield paint is an innovative solution that effectively addresses these global challenges.
The uniqueness of TOA's Super Shield paint lies in its use of Cooling Paint technology, which combines three key components for maximum efficiency: titanium dioxide and barium sulfate, which excellently reflect sunlight, and silica, which enhances the durability of the paint film, lasting up to 15 years and being three times more durable than regular paint. It has been tested according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards, ensuring the paint film remains beautiful and durable without peeling, while also preventing dust accumulation through Self-Cleaning technology, keeping walls clean and reducing the chances of dust, mold, bacteria, and algae from deteriorating wall surfaces that we often overlook.

"Super Shield paint has been certified by leading institutions, guaranteeing it as a true cooling paint, reflecting up to 97.5% of sunlight as tested by OTM Solutions Singapore, and releasing heat up to 90% as tested by King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, according to ASTM C1371 standards. It can also help reduce indoor temperatures by up to 5.5 degrees Celsius, as demonstrated by the Energy Plus testing program.
Additionally, 'Super Shield' is considered an eco-friendly innovation as it has received the Carbon Footprint Reduction label from the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) or TGO, which guarantees that if consumers become more aware and considerate of the world we live in by choosing to use building paints that carry this carbon footprint reduction label, it will also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) into the atmosphere. This is another solution for the world, allowing us to collectively mitigate the Global Boiling phenomenon and work towards a sustainable low-carbon society.
With these properties of Super Shield paint, it aligns with Pruksa's vision of caring for the environment and assures Pruksa residents that the paint used is of high quality and helps reduce electricity costs. This reflects the success of Pruksa's commitment to developing innovative products over the past 60 years, which is a key strategy of the 7-Green Strategy to reinforce the Green Mission of achieving Net Zero by 2050 through sustainable organizational integration and development based on ESG principles," Mr. Jaturapat stated.
Pruksa Holding will continue to develop housing innovations that provide convenience, safety, and environmental friendliness for residents, enhancing the quality of living while addressing the lifestyle and needs of residents of all ages, in line with the concept of caring for both life and well-being.
