Cleaning is a task that many may consider simple, but the spaces between chair legs, under furniture, and the movement between rooms, along with pet foot traffic, make it challenging to clean thoroughly. Repeatedly vacuuming the same spots can waste time and reduce cleaning efficiency.

Inspired by the systematic cleaning approach of the Dyson 360 Vis NavTM robotic vacuum cleaner, Dyson CleanTrace™ enables users to clean more systematically. The real-time AR technology shows cleaned areas and missed spots, saving time and eliminating doubts about whether a particular area has been cleaned.

Dyson CleanTrace™ integrates various technologies for powerful, intelligent, and thorough cleaning. The LiDAR technology in users' phones helps Dyson CleanTrace™ map the room and plan cleaning routes using AR, highlighting cleaned areas and missed spots. After cleaning, users can scan the room with their phones to ensure no spots were overlooked, while the technology in the Dyson Gen5detectTM vacuum detects and counts dust particles using Acoustic Dust Sensing, demonstrating deep cleaning.

Dyson engineers are committed to an engineering approach to find ways to improve cleaning. In addition to extensive laboratory testing, our engineers study human behavior, cleaning habits, and real-world usage obstacles. They spend hundreds of hours observing home cleaning around the world, analyzing cleaning times, cleaning efficiency, different vacuuming angles and patterns, and even how often users reposition the vacuum during cleaning. All of this evidence shows our commitment to innovation in our vacuum technology.

Our research shows that consumers often overestimate their cleaning time. Data indicates that about 80% of cleaning takes less than 10 minutes, yet people claim they vacuum for an average of 24 minutes at a time. Additionally, consumers clean in a non-systematic and inefficient manner, often repeating cleaning in the same spots while missing others, highlighting the need for Dyson CleanTrace™.
