IKEA Reveals Shopping Statistics for Urban Shoppers After the Launch of IKEA Sukhumvit, Welcoming 120,000 Visitors in the First Week
After the opening of ‘IKEA Sukhumvit’, the fourth IKEA store in Thailand located on the third floor of The EmSphere shopping center, which has been operational since December 1, 2023, many have had the opportunity to experience the largest furniture and home decor store in Bangkok. This store showcases the concept of ‘City-Centre Store’, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. With excellent feedback from both Thai customers and expatriates living in the city center, we observed various interesting shopping behaviors and statistics within just one week of its launch, from December 1 to 7, 2023. IKEA Thailand has compiled 8 fun facts following the debut of ‘IKEA Sukhumvit’ to share.


- The FRAKTA bag was the top-selling item with 7,121 pieces sold, reflecting over 30 years of its legacy as one of the most durable shopping bags in the world. The second best-selling item was the white plate and food container from the OFTAST collection, with 5,661 pieces sold, followed by the ISTAD zip-lock bags with 4,649 pieces sold. IKEA Sukhumvit offers a wide selection of 8,206 items, with over 4,000 items available for immediate purchase.

- The top three best-selling non-cash & carry items, which cannot be purchased and taken home immediately, included the PAX wardrobe, which provides ample storage space, followed by the durable EKTORP sofa, which allows for easy cover changes, and the BESTÅ storage unit that meets various needs.

- IKEA Sukhumvit welcomed over 120,000 visitors in the first 7 days, with the highest number of visitors recorded on December 2, 2023, totaling 22,490 people who came to fully experience the IKEA shopping style across more than 12,000 square meters in the city center, conveniently accessible to urban lifestyles.
- The top three popular menu items at IKEA Sukhumvit's restaurant include Swedish meatballs (pork and beef mix) served with mashed potatoes and broccoli, totaling 3,153 plates sold; roasted chicken leg served with rice, broccoli, and brown sauce, with 2,920 plates sold; and fish and chips served with French fries and broccoli, totaling 1,500 plates sold. Additionally, the restaurant offers a view of Benjasiri Park and has 530 seats, allowing visitors to relax in a lush urban atmosphere while enjoying their favorite Swedish dishes.

- Two popular special menu items at IKEA Sukhumvit sold a total of around 1,500 plates, including a mixed sausage dish served with mashed potatoes, pickled vegetables, asparagus, and gravy (849 plates) and salmon served with broccoli, vegetable medallions, and onion cream sauce (632 plates). These special dishes were created specifically for the opening of IKEA Sukhumvit and will be available until March 31, 2024.

- The most popular service among urban customers in the first week at IKEA Sukhumvit was home delivery. To cater to the urban lifestyle that demands convenience and speed, IKEA Sukhumvit offers same-day delivery within an 8-kilometer radius using electric vehicles for items available in-store, starting at 129 baht. Other popular services include furniture assembly, Click & Collect, and Order & Collect.

- The best-selling bistro items at IKEA Sukhumvit in the first week included 8,310 ice cream cones, followed by 5,283 hot dogs, and 2,550 two-tone cotton candy ice creams. Customers can also enjoy a variety of light snacks and beverages at the bistro, similar to those at IKEA Bangna and Bang Yai.

- Three popular Swedish snacks that are delicious and enjoyable include CHOKLAD LJUS (milk chocolate with hazelnut) with 980 pieces sold, CHOKLAD LJUS (milk chocolate bars) with 861 pieces sold, and Pick & Mix (various flavored jelly) with 780 pieces sold in the first week.
