Dr. Sutthipol Taweechai Karn, Secretary-General of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) <\/strong><\/span> stated that the OIC is delivering a New Year gift to the public, providing peace of mind through insurance coverage. They have launched 2 new insurance policies, developed to be more special than ever to cover both travel and housing needs, effectively addressing the public's demands:

1. New Year Group Travel Insurance for Safe Travel in Thailand (Micro Insurance) with a 30-day coverage period, offering accident protection up to 100,000 THB.<\/p>

2. New Year Home Fire Insurance for Peace of Mind (Micro Insurance) with a 30-day coverage period, offering protection up to 30,000 THB.<\/p>

The New Year Group Travel Insurance for Safe Travel in Thailand (Micro Insurance) <\/span><\/strong> will cover cases of death, loss of hands, feet, loss of eyesight, or total permanent disability due to accidents, excluding murder, assault, and/or accidents while riding or driving a motorcycle. The insured amount is 100,000 THB for cases of death, loss of hands, feet, loss of eyesight, or total permanent disability due to murder, assault, and/or accidents while riding or driving a motorcycle, with an insured amount of 50,000 THB.

For funeral expense benefits in case of death due to illness (excluding death from illness within the first 15 days from the start date of the insurance period), the insured amount is 5,000 THB. For medical expenses due to accidents, the coverage is based on actual expenses, excluding costs related to hiring special nurses, various support equipment (except crutches), wheelchairs, external prosthetics, alternative medicine, and acupuncture, with an insured amount of 5,000 THB.

The New Year Home Fire Insurance for Peace of Mind (Micro Insurance) <\/strong><\/span> will cover damages to residences from fire, lightning, or explosions. Coverage depends on the type of construction: concrete structures (with more than 80% of the wall area made of brick and mortar) are covered for 30,000 THB; half brick and half wood structures (with 50-80% of the wall area made of brick and mortar) are covered for 15,000 THB; structures that are neither brick nor half brick and half wood (with more than 50% of the wall area made of other materials such as wood, zinc, or flat tiles) are covered for 10,000 THB; wooden row houses are covered for 5,000 THB. In cases of damage from storms, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, or hail, the total coverage is limited to 1,000 THB. Temporary housing rental coverage is available up to 300 THB per day, not exceeding 30 days throughout the insurance period.

Additionally, theft insurance covers burglary with signs of forced entry, robbery, and theft at the insured's current residence, covering damages to property within the specified structure and/or costs for changing locks on doors and windows, with an insured amount not exceeding 5,000 THB.

Both insurance policies have a coverage period of 30 days. <\/strong><\/span>The insured must be between 20 and 70 years old on the date of insurance. Each insured individual is entitled to receive one insurance policy from each participating provider. Interested parties can obtain their rights from participating providers starting today, from December 1, 2022, to January 31, 2023.
