SC Asset Creates a New Phenomenon in Sustainable Construction Industry by Partnering with Tata Steel (Thailand) to Achieve SCero Mission Goals
SC Asset is taking the lead in managing the home construction process seriously, from start to finish, under the important SCero Mission goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2025. This initiative is in collaboration with Tata Steel (Thailand), a leading company in the steel industry, to develop the Low Carbon Community concept with a strong commitment to sustainable construction practices.
SC Asset Corporation Public Company Limited (SC) is an organization that has grown alongside environmental awareness, aiming to be the number one brand in single-family homes. Mr. Papanadech Pacharachanan, Head of Project Support at SC Asset Corporation, along with executives, partnered with Mr. Chaichalerm Boonyanuwat, Assistant Managing Director of Marketing and Sales at Tata Steel (Thailand) Public Company Limited, the leading producer of rebar in Thailand, to promote sustainability and environmental consciousness through the Low Carbon Community concept. This involves managing rebar, a crucial material in home construction, starting with three luxury projects: Grand Bangkok Boulevard East Rama 9, The Gentry Phatthanakan 2, and The Gentry Cultivar Rama 9.
Mr. Papanadech stated, “This marks a new dimension in the construction industry in Thailand, as SC Asset collaborates with Tata Steel to adjust processes for services that align with the construction model of single-family homes, following the cut and bend service for rebar as per factory specifications, which is highly popular in large construction projects.”
This concept is managed from the beginning of the home construction process, helping to reduce waste materials on construction sites, which is a key factor in minimizing environmental impact, while also enhancing management efficiency and increasing construction effectiveness.
The selected construction material is “TATA TISCON” from Tata Steel (Thailand), the number one rebar brand produced in Thailand with environmentally conscious manufacturing processes.

Mr. Chaichalerm remarked, “Tata Steel is always aware of environmental issues, thus we focus on developing products and services that meet customer needs in terms of environmental sustainability, such as the cut and bend rebar service, which helps reduce leftover scrap on-site. Additionally, the steel production process at every stage is a Green Process, utilizing Electric Arc Furnace (EF) technology, which is currently the best recycling technology for steel in terms of energy use and fuel efficiency, resulting in lower CO2 emissions. We continuously improve production processes to utilize natural resources efficiently, including water recycling, reforestation, and renewable energy. Furthermore, the EF melting process allows for precise quality control, ensuring that the quality of TATA TISCON products is consistent across all production runs, making every structure safe and strong.”
The success of the collaboration between SC Asset and Tata Steel (Thailand) under the Low Carbon Community concept can be summarized as follows:
- Improved work quality and systematic processes due to standardized rebar cutting and bending from a well-controlled factory production, resulting in faster and more efficient work.
- A reduction of over 15% in the amount of rebar ordered for projects.
- Reduction of waste materials on construction sites by minimizing the processes required to dispose of scrap materials.
- Decreased fuel consumption from transportation due to a reduced volume of delivered rebar, also lowering the need to transport scrap metal for disposal, saving an average of over 19 liters of fuel per house built.
- Reduced rebar cutting and bending processes, cutting construction hours by over 120 hours per house, which helps minimize environmental pollution such as dust, waste, and noise disturbance.
Mr. Papanadech concluded, “As SC Asset, an organization that grows alongside environmental awareness, we have a comprehensive management plan covering the SCero Mission goals from start to finish, including plans to implement the approaches developed with Tata Steel in over 20 housing projects worth more than 10 billion baht in 2023, to help reduce environmental impacts and sustainably lower greenhouse gas emissions.”
