WHA Group has received 3 prestigious awards from the SET AWARDS 2022 in the Sustainability Excellence and Business Excellence categories from the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). WHA Corporation Public Company Limited was awarded the Commended Sustainability Awards in the Sustainability Excellence category, WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited received the Best Innovative Company Awards in the Business Excellence category, and WHA Industrial Leasehold Real Estate Investment Trust was honored with the Outstanding REIT Performance Awards in the Business Excellence category. The award ceremony was held by the Stock Exchange of Thailand in collaboration with the Finance and Banking Journal.
Ms. Jareeporn Jarukornsakul, Chairwoman and CEO of WHA Corporation Public Company Limited stated, “I am extremely proud that our WHA Group has received 3 SET Awards in both the Sustainability Excellence and Business Excellence categories.” She added, “These awards reflect our organization’s commitment to sustainable development and growth by maximizing the benefits of innovation and technology to create sustainable value while adhering to balanced business principles. I would like to thank all executives and employees who actively contributed to guiding our organization towards sustainable development and growth.”
WHA Group has implemented sustainability policies across all four business segments: logistics, industrial estates, utilities and energy, and digital platforms, as part of its plan to evolve into a Tech Company by 2024. Additionally, the company has undertaken various projects to promote economic and financial growth, as well as environmental conservation and mitigation of climate change impacts through smart technology and innovation.
Over the years, WHA Group has executed numerous outstanding environmental projects, such as the Clean Water for Planet initiative launched in 2016, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of water resources and imparting knowledge to foster a collective consciousness in communities regarding the significance of natural resource conservation. The company has constructed and delivered wastewater treatment systems to various communities to improve water quality in canals using environmentally friendly constructed wetland treatment systems, inspired by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX). Currently, the company has delivered wastewater treatment systems to the Pluak Daeng Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Rayong Province and has participated in developing a constructed wetland wastewater treatment system for the Nong Kla Subdistrict Municipality in Chanthaburi Province.
Furthermore, the company aims to increase production capacity from the Reclamation Water Project, which involves reusing treated wastewater from 30,200 cubic meters to 60,400 cubic meters per day by 2025. This will help reduce the use of water from natural sources and the discharge of wastewater into public drainage systems by 6.9 million cubic meters, ensuring long-term water security, and can also be converted into demineralized water or high-quality water for industrial customers within the company’s industrial estates.
Clean energy is another priority for the company, including solar energy through the development of rooftop solar projects and energy production from industrial waste, such as the Chonburi Clean Energy Power Plant. This year, the company expects to have power purchase agreements from solar energy projects totaling 150 megawatts, with a target of reaching 300 megawatts by the end of 2023. WHA Group achieved carbon neutrality in 2021 and is committed to achieving net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 through its participation in developing the Renewable Energy Exchange (RENEX) platform, a peer-to-peer energy trading system using blockchain technology in collaboration with PTT Public Company Limited and Certis Company Limited, which will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 4.3 million tons throughout the project’s life cycle.
In addition, over the years, WHA Group has initiated various community projects in areas such as social assistance, education, youth and sports, health, personnel development, and community empowerment. The company has aligned its operations with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ESG principles, which has led to WHA Group receiving continuous sustainability awards and being listed in the Thailand Sustainability Investment (THSI) index for real estate and construction by the Stock Exchange of Thailand for the third consecutive year.
