The Home Builder Association (HBA) has officially launched the Home Building and Materials Expo 2022 themed "Create-Change-World" in a grand manner to conclude the year 2022, presenting concepts of future homes that are environmentally friendly. This event aims to reinforce confidence and resolve issues related to unreliable contractors with 35 leading home building companies showcasing over 1,000 new house designs priced from 1 to 100 million baht, along with special promotions aimed at driving the "business-environment-economy of Thailand" significantly as the year ends, with expected bookings reaching 3.5 billion baht. The event will take place from September 14-18, 2022, at Impact Hall 6, Muang Thong Thani.

Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, President of the Home Builder Association, revealed that the overall market for home building in 2022 is expected to be valued at approximately 12.5 billion baht, reflecting consumer spending on housing as the COVID-19 situation begins to ease compared to the previous 1-2 years. This is underpinned by the demand for beautiful homes that balance both physical health and a good environment.

In the last three months of 2022, it is believed that this will be a favorable time that will positively impact the overall growth of the home building market, driven by the Home Building and Materials Expo 2022, which the association organizes annually. The goal is to raise awareness of the potential of home building companies while delivering quality services to consumers looking to build new homes on their own land, as well as updating new trends for designers, students, and the general public to participate in activities. This year's event is themed "Create-Change-World" to align with the new trend of everyone becoming more health-conscious and collectively aware of environmental impacts.

“The concept of "Create-Change-World" stems from the perspective of how we can help reduce environmental impacts and conserve nature. The association's answer to this is the idea of building homes with minimal environmental impact,” Mr. Worawut stated.

From this concept, Mr. Worawut said it can be concretely pushed forward as follows: “Create” not only emphasizes professionalism, but home building companies can also incorporate environmental concepts into their work, starting from the design phase that aligns with wind and sunlight directions to reduce energy consumption within the home, creating homes that are mindful of pollution, and delivering quality.

Additionally, the association has initiated the "Building Homes, Building Environment" project in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, providing knowledge to its members on keeping construction sites orderly to reduce pollution from dust, waste, wastewater, and noise. The association aims to encourage members and consumers to be mindful of global warming, reduce energy consumption, and improve hygiene in homes.

Furthermore, the project "Promoting Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy in the Housing Sector" is being conducted in collaboration with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, SCG Cement – Building Materials Co., Ltd., and Kasikorn Bank Public Company Limited, offering training on "Innovations for Building Energy-Efficient Green Homes: A Trend for Environmental Care" to guide energy-efficient home design.

“Change” involves shifting from traditional material choices to using alternative natural materials, such as using composite wood flooring and wall materials instead of natural wood, and opting for recycled materials, which helps reduce global warming.

“World” refers to building homes that consider reducing global warming by minimizing heat entering the house from roofs, walls, and windows, enhancing ventilation to make homes comfortable while reducing air conditioning usage. At the same time, it encourages the use of renewable energy, such as solar energy, and construction practices that reduce waste, wastewater, and PM 2.5 dust that affects residents' health.

In addition to knowledge about environmentally friendly homes, another highlight of the event that shouldn't be missed includes exhibition booths providing information to those interested in energy-efficient homes, organized by the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy, as well as presentations of environmentally friendly homes organized by the Thailand Environment Institute and the National Housing Authority participating in this event. There are also many special offers, including discount coupons worth 5,000-10,000 baht, free e-Book New Home Designs 2023 for those who register online in advance through the association's channels, and a chance to win gold worth over 300,000 baht, along with booths from various construction material brands showcasing new innovations and eco-friendly products. The association has also coordinated with financial institutions to offer good promotions for customers booking home construction at the event.

Overall, the event is expected to attract around 10,000 visitors, with a target for home construction bookings at 3.5 billion baht from 35 home building companies.

“The booking target this year, although not significantly growing compared to last year's event, is due to the easing of the COVID-19 situation and the overall economy starting to recover. The association has achieved booking values for home construction at the event from 2019 to 2021 as follows: 2019 valued at 2.64 billion baht, 2020 at 2.8 billion baht, and 2021 at 3.4 billion baht. This year, the booking target is set at 3.5 billion baht, which represents a driving force for the overall economy of the country while providing knowledge to consumers planning to build their dream homes without the issues of unreliable contractors,” Mr. Worawut stated.
