Pruksa Joins Forces with 3 Businesses: Alternative Energy, Wellness, and Corporate Venture to Develop Cutting-Edge Innovations in Housing
Pruksa is moving forward to create sustainable growth by joining forces with three businesses: alternative energy, wellness, and corporate venture, aiming to develop the pinnacle of housing innovation.
Pruksa reaffirms its mission to foster sustainable business growth, continuing its strategic investment plan for the second half of 2022 by branching into new business lines, establishing a joint venture company to provide solar cell services, and furthering its health mission with the launch of "Wimut Wellness", the first of its kind in the Pruksa Avenue community in Bangna-Ring Road. This initiative builds on its commitment to innovation for the best quality of living through joint investments in high-potential proptech and healthtech startups both in Thailand and abroad under Corporate Venture Capital (CVC). Additionally, it continues to expand investments through strong connections with strategically invested companies.

Mr. Uthen Lohachitpitak, CEO of Pruksa Holding Public Company Limited, revealed the company's performance for the second quarter of 2022, reporting total revenue of 5,389 million baht, with a gross profit margin improving to 31.0% and a net profit of 430 million baht, an increase from the same period last year. The company has maintained a strong financial position, with a low net gearing ratio of 0.39 times. In the real estate sector, presales reached 6,342 million baht, growing 19% from the previous quarter, and total revenue was 5,101 million baht, with a gross profit margin of 32.4% and a net profit of 527 million baht. In the first half of the year, eight projects were launched with a total value of 3,627 million baht. Based on the performance in the first half of the year, Pruksa has approved an interim dividend payment for the year 2022 at a rate of 0.31 baht per share. For the second half of 2022, there are plans to launch 23 new projects, including 15 townhouse projects, 5 single-family home projects, and 3 condominium projects, with a total value of 12,700 million baht.

Pruksa aims to operate sustainably under the concept of "Pruksa... Caring for Life Tomorrow. Reimagined." It focuses on three core areas that align with global megatrends: changing lifestyles (lifestyle disruption), health and wellness awareness (health & wellness), and sustainable business development. The strategy emphasizes a business model for sustainable development. Recently, Pruksa has partnered with Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited to establish a joint venture named "Pun New Energy Co., Ltd." with a 50:50 shareholding ratio. This collaboration with Gunkul Engineering aims to enhance Pruksa's projects, focusing on the sale and installation of solar roofs with a joint project value of 1,500 million baht, including comprehensive installation services (EPC) and solar energy trading, providing long-term electricity cost savings (PPA) to help customers reduce investment costs and utilize clean energy. This initiative is expected to serve over 12,500 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 126,000 tons within five years. Additionally, there are plans to test a model of a village powered by solar energy to replace electricity usage and expand into energy storage technology in the future, benefiting residents by saving on electricity costs and contributing to long-term environmental preservation.

Regarding the health and wellness mission, Mr. Uthen stated that Wimut Hospital has received quality certification from the Healthcare Accreditation Institute (Public Organization) HA Level 2. In the second quarter of 2022, Wimut Hospital in Phaholyothin generated revenue of 203 million baht, growing 26% from the previous quarter. In addition to hospital services, which have increased specialized medical teams and equipment, Wimut is expanding services beyond the hospital to enhance healthcare for Thai people, investing 90 million baht to establish the first health and rehabilitation center for families and the elderly, "Wimut Wellness," which began operations on August 12, 2022.
With the concept of "Live Well, Stay Well" as the starting point for a good life today and in the future, Pruksa has integrated Wimut Wellness into the development of Pruksa Avenue Bangna-Ring Road, designing homes to be healthy homes for all ages and providing home healthcare services with specialized doctors, as well as online services (telemedicine) to create a comprehensive wellness living community, the first of its kind in the real estate sector.
Wimut Wellness offers services in the form of a physical therapy hospital, general disease diagnosis and treatment, blood tests, health checks, vaccinations, physical therapy, and hydrotherapy, with daily/weekly/monthly elderly care services provided by family medicine doctors, cardiologists, and interdisciplinary teams available 24 hours. This investment enhances health services that ensure access to healthcare from home, providing peace of mind for residents in the project and nearby communities, as a hospital is just a stone's throw away. This is another step in fulfilling Pruksa's model for developing healthy homes, integrating strengths from two businesses: real estate and healthcare.

Mr. Uthen concluded that regarding the trend of living under a new lifestyle, technology has clearly played a significant role in people's lives. Pruksa places importance on its mission for innovation in living and health. In the past, it has invested in Thai startups in the Prop Tech and Health Tech sectors through its corporate venture investment program. In the first half of the year, it invested in "Naluri," a digital health care provider (Digital Preventive Wellness) from Malaysia, and "AMILI," a biotechnology company specializing in gastrointestinal microbiomes, the first and only one in Southeast Asia from Singapore.
All of this represents the operations of the Pruksa Group, focusing on expanding opportunities in new businesses by leveraging partnerships both internally and externally, leading to the development of new businesses and services that promote quality living for all Thai people.
