One Bangkok is a comprehensive real estate project with the highest quality standards and the largest in the heart of Bangkok. It has partnered with SCG and Quality Construction Products Public Company Limited (Q-CON) to sign a memorandum of understanding to recycle leftover lightweight bricks from the construction of One Bangkok into Q-CON Sound Barrier wall panels for use in the tunnel underpass leading into the project. This initiative reinforces the project's commitment to achieving Zero Waste by utilizing resources efficiently, reducing environmental impact, and elevating the Thai construction industry towards sustainability in the future.

Mr. Panote Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Frasers Property Limited, the developer of One Bangkok, stated, "With Frasers Property Limited's core policy to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050, we are committed to developing One Bangkok as a model for setting new standards in design, quality, sustainability, and balanced living in Thailand. By selecting strategic partners who share a common vision for sustainable construction practices under the principles of a circular economy, our collaboration with SCG and Q-CON, both of whom are long-standing partners, is a testament to this vision."

Mr. Nithi Patrachok, Managing Director of SCG's Cement and Construction Products Business, said, "SCG places great importance on sustainable development and applies the principles of Circular Economy in the construction industry to address environmental issues, including the use of natural resources, energy shortages, waste management from construction, and greenhouse gas emissions. SCG aims for Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, focusing on resource and material circulation to maximize their utility, or the approach of Turn Waste to Value, to reduce waste from construction projects and create added value from leftover materials. Previous collaborations in the One Bangkok project include reusing technology for crushing pile caps suitable for construction into precast concrete panels, among others."

SCG is very pleased to collaborate with the One Bangkok project, which shares a business approach aligned with sustainable development, aiming for an environmentally friendly construction industry or green construction in the future.

The recycling process begins by crushing leftover lightweight bricks into lightweight brick aggregate, which is then used as a component in the production of Q-CON Sound Barrier wall panels for constructing walls in the tunnel underpass leading into the project. This marks the first instance of a large-scale real estate project in Thailand implementing such a process. Based on the total amount of lightweight bricks used in the project, which exceeds 1.6 million pieces weighing over 10,000 tons, approximately 1.8% to 2% will remain as construction waste, equating to 200 tons that can be recycled. This material can be used as a substitute for sand, water quality improvement agents, and in the production of Q-CON Sound Barrier panels for the tunnel underpass, covering an area of over 1,850 square meters.

Mr. Narongvet Watanapanit, Managing Director of Quality Construction Products Public Company Limited in SCG's Cement and Construction Products Business, stated, "Q-CON is a leading manufacturer of lightweight bricks in Thailand that recognizes the importance of the environment and the efficient use of natural resources by reducing fuel energy consumption and increasing the proportion of clean energy in the production process. Our products have received high-efficiency energy-saving labels and carbon reduction labels, as well as the SCG Green Choice mark. We are proud to be part of the development of the One Bangkok project by recycling leftover lightweight bricks from construction into Q-CON Sound Barrier panels, which are easy to install, strong, have excellent sound absorption properties, and are energy-efficient for a better environment for all of us."

One Bangkok is the largest and most comprehensive real estate project located in the heart of Bangkok's business district, with an investment value of over 120 billion baht on a total area of 104 rai or 166,400 square meters on Witthayu Road and Rama 4 Road. Upon completion, the One Bangkok project will consist of five premium-grade A office buildings, four retail zones, five luxury and lifestyle hotels, and three luxury residential buildings, all operating under a concept that considers people, sustainability, and smart urban living. It aims to be the first project in Thailand to receive both the LEED for Neighborhood Development Platinum certification for community development and the WELL certification for the health and well-being of residents and building users, setting a new standard for environmentally friendly and sustainable project development in Thailand. The first phase of the One Bangkok project is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2023.
