"One Bangkok" has partnered with THINKK Studio, a design studio featuring a variety of emerging designers, to organize the One Bangkok Urban Furniture Competition 2022 under the design theme "Seatscape & Beyond." This competition invites university students from all disciplines who have a passion for design to create public seating for urban living (Urban Furniture).

            Selected works will receive funding for production and installation, allowing them to be utilized in the One Bangkok project, along with a chance to win prizes totaling over 500,000 THB and participate in workshops with leading professional designers in Thailand. This initiative aims to instill pride in being part of a grand global project in the heart of Bangkok in the near future.

          Mr. Worawart Srisuan, Deputy CEO of the One Bangkok Project stated that the vision is to create a leading business district as a global destination for all lifestyles, enhancing urban living with comprehensive facilities and services to enrich the urban experience.

            A key component is the Art Loop, which connects various areas through public art and cultural spaces, inspiring visitors. This led to the establishment of the One Bangkok Urban Furniture Competition 2022 under the design theme "Seatscape & Beyond," a creative design competition for public seating in urban living.

            The selected designs will be installed in public spaces within One Bangkok, creating a distinctive portfolio showcased in a global project. This competition also reflects support for the creativity of youth and the new generation passionate about creative work, as well as recognizing the importance of quality of life for users in public spaces, promoting One Bangkok's role as a supporter of Thailand's cultural and creative industries.

            Visitors can view the exhibition and prototypes of public seating for urban living by One Bangkok and THINKK Studio to find inspiration and explore limitless creative imagination at the Bangkok Design Week 2022, located at the entrance of the Central Post Office, Bang Rak, Charoen Krung Road.

            The event will take place from February 5 to 13, 2022, and those interested in participating can apply and submit their works from March 1 to June 30, 2022.

          The design theme Seatscape & Beyond opens up space for diverse creative ideas for public seating that goes beyond just ordinary seating. It may be a simple surface waiting to be filled with the imagination of users, a space that provides comfort and joy, or a place that borrows knowledge from the past to tell a new story.

            It may also incorporate modern innovations and technologies to enhance functionality. These are just some possibilities we invite participants to think, analyze, and respond to the design of public seating in One Bangkok through interpreting four types of seating contexts:

Sit to Linger: Seating that allows one to relax and take time to explore their surroundings, discovering inspiration without needing to move.

Sit to Play: Seating that encourages not just stillness but includes elements that stimulate play and active interaction among friends or family members.

Sit to Gather: Seating that invites people to come together and interact, whether through flavorful conversations or shared meals filled with stories.

Sit to Transfer: Seating that occurs briefly during a purposeful transition from one point to another, representing a waiting experience that is more than just waiting, but also welcoming and bidding farewell during the journey.
