Supalai Public Company Limited and the Prateep - Atchara Tangmattatham Foundation, in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, are creating a platform for innovative ideas in architecture during the New Normal. The design competition titled 'FUTURE LIVING... Housing of the Future' aims to address the diverse living styles of the new generation in a changing world, alongside an exhibition from December 1 to 13, 2020, at the curved wall on the 4th and 5th floors of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

Dr. Prateep Tangmattatham, Chairman of the Executive Board of Supalai Public Company Limited and Chairman of the Prateep - Atchara Tangmattatham Foundation, discussed the concept behind the 'FUTURE LIVING... Housing of the Future' design competition, which responds to the changes and needs of global society. The most crucial aspect of design is imagination, developed through systematic thinking that aligns with the actual needs of users. Designers must observe behaviors and societal changes to accurately predict future trends, thereby providing new options for consumers. The company is committed to conducting activities for social and public benefit (CSR) to support education, allowing Thai youth to showcase their talents and creativity in design.

This competition is a collaboration between Supalai Public Company Limited and the Prateep - Atchara Tangmattatham Foundation, along with the Faculty of Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, to support the creativity of emerging designers. It provides a platform for undergraduate students to challenge their creative powers through works that reflect the design perspective of housing in the New Normal era, where human behaviors are changing. The design challenges include PROJECT DESIGN for residential buildings and SKETCH DESIGN for houses and communal areas. A total of 296 submissions were received, aiming to create prototype projects that can be applied and beneficial to society, while also providing experiences and supporting new designers on their journey to becoming professional architects, competing for scholarships worth over 250,000 baht, along with certificates and an exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.

Among the works inspired by the new generation participating in the competition, five finalists were selected in the PROJECT DESIGN category for residential buildings from fourth-year architecture students:

  • Ms. Chanphit Sripongthanakul with the work titled Vert, inspired by the New Normal, focusing on building structure, wind direction, and ventilation, resulting in fewer residents per floor and increased green space along the levels.
  • Mr. Kritchai Chuanboon with the work titled LANGSUAN RESIDENCE, inspired by the development of communal areas to create a peaceful and private atmosphere, reflecting changes in behavior and lifestyle, where people stay home and work remotely.
  • Ms. Nattani Chaiprasuwat with the work titled ONE Sathorn - Charoenrat, inspired by the need for a new lifestyle in the New Normal concept, incorporating small private spaces within larger areas for residents' various activities.
  • Mr. Nopparuj Suksa with the work titled THE DAWN RESIDENCE, inspired by Eastern architecture suitable for the tropical lifestyle and climate, aligning with sales area calculations.
  • Ms. Kanyanat Jaemsai with the work titled The Ever Last, inspired by creating a Green Building that enhances health for both people and the environment, featuring a large front garden and a rooftop garden with varying heights of over 20 meters, connecting from the ground floor to the upper levels for exercise and relaxation.

Experience the innovations of future housing and witness the ideas of new designers on display from December 1 to 13, 2020, Tuesday to Sunday (closed on Mondays) from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the curved wall on the 4th and 5th floors of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre.
