Krung Thai Bank Offers 6-Month Principal and Interest Payment Suspension with 2% Annual Loan Rate
Krung Thai Bank continues to enhance its support measures for customers in response to the economic situation, following various relief initiatives. Recently, the bank announced a 6-month suspension of both principal and interest payments for customers with loan amounts not exceeding 100 million baht, along with the provision of Soft Loans.

Mr. Payong Srivanich, the President of Krung Thai Bank, stated that the bank is committed to providing assistance to both individual and business customers affected by the economic downturn and the COVID-19 crisis. Recently, Krung Thai Bank has joined additional measures to support SMEs as part of the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Thailand's initiatives.
This aligns with the draft royal decree for financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises, which includes a 6-month suspension of principal and interest payments for business customers with loan amounts not exceeding 100 million baht to help manage essential business expenses, effective from April to September 2020.
Additionally, the bank supports new loans (Soft Loans) to enhance liquidity for customers with loan amounts not exceeding 500 million baht, allowing them to borrow up to 20% of the outstanding debt as of December 31, 2019, at an interest rate of 2% per annum, with no interest charged during the first 6 months to help customers continue their business operations.
Over the past period, the bank has provided assistance to all customer segments by implementing relief measures for those affected both directly and indirectly, including a 12-month suspension of principal payments for individual customers, a 12-month suspension of principal payments, and an extension of the repayment period for promissory notes (P/N) and Trade Finance loans by 6 months.
For business customers experiencing reduced income, the bank has offered a 3-month suspension of payments for both principal and interest for individual and business customers in good standing, covering personal loans under regulation and housing loans with amounts not exceeding 3 million baht, as well as business loans not exceeding 20 million baht.
Furthermore, the bank provides the Krung Thai COVID-19 Relief Loan with an initial interest rate of 2% per annum, fixed for the first 2 years, with a maximum loan amount of 20 million baht, free of guarantee fees for 4 years, and no transaction fees for transfers and payments for 1 year.
For business customers affected by COVID-19, such as those in tourism, hotels, car rentals, and souvenir shops, the bank has already assisted over 3,500 customers with a total loan amount exceeding 40 billion baht, and there are more than 70,000 customers currently in process with an estimated loan amount of around 280 billion baht, totaling 320 billion baht in assistance.
