Bus Services Halted Nationwide 100% Following Government Curfew Announcement Starting April 3
Mr. Jirasak Yaowatchakul, Managing Director of the Transport Company Limited (Bor.Kor.Sor.) announced that following the government's declaration of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (No. 2) dated April 2, 2020, a nationwide curfew is imposed from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM starting April 3, 2020, until further notice. Additionally, some provinces have declared lockdowns and are implementing social distancing measures.
As a result, Bor.Kor.Sor. will not be able to provide bus services to the public on all routes nationwide starting from April 3, 2020. Passengers who have purchased tickets in advance are advised to request refunds or reschedule their trips via the website transport.co.th starting from April 5, 2020.
However, the Bor.Kor.Sor. will continue to operate its parcel delivery service for essential goods to the public every day from 5:00 AM to 8:30 PM. For more information, please contact the Call Center at 1490, available 24 hours.
Additionally, Bor.Kor.Sor. will operate the Bangkok passenger terminals (Chatuchak, Ekkamai, Borommaratchachonnani Road) and small bus terminals (Chatuchak) from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM starting today (April 3, 2020) until the situation returns to normal.
Regarding joint services most operators have requested to suspend services, but some routes will still operate as some citizens still need to travel for work or medical appointments. Routes exceeding 300 kilometers (long routes) will have services available from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM only, while routes not exceeding 300 kilometers (short routes) will operate from 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Overall, passenger numbers have decreased by over 90% and are expected to decline further as operators gradually suspend services and the government encourages working from home, resulting in less than 10% of buses in operation. Therefore, we urge passengers to refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Traveling on public transport poses a high risk, and citizens are encouraged to stay home to stop the virus for the nation.
