Krung Thai Bank Implements All Measures to Rapidly Assist All Customer Types Through Economic Crisis
Mr. Phayong Sriwattanakorn, the President of Krung Thai Bank, revealed that the bank is aware of its role in supporting the economy and assisting all customer groups affected by the economic situation, especially due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, the bank has provided assistance to over 1,500 customers, amounting to more than 30 billion baht, with an additional 70,000 customers currently undergoing further assistance processes, totaling approximately 250 billion baht. This brings the total assistance amount to over 280 billion baht.
Additionally, the bank has participated in the credit assistance measures for borrowers affected by COVID-19 as initiated by the Bank of Thailand. Furthermore, the bank has introduced supplementary measures to expedite debt restructuring for all affected customers, as well as reducing the MOR interest rate by 0.25% to 6.62% per annum and the MRR by 0.125% to 6.745% per annum.
For retail customers using the Smart Money personal loan and the 5 Plus multipurpose loan, the bank has postponed principal and interest payments for 3 months. For housing loans not exceeding 3 million baht, principal payments are deferred for 3 months. Business loan customers with amounts not exceeding 20 million baht can also defer principal payments for 3 months. Customers experiencing reduced income due to the economic crisis, including personal loan and housing loan customers, can defer principal payments for up to 12 months. Housing loan customers can apply for additional loans through the Home for Cash program using the same collateral as their existing housing loan with the bank. Business loan customers can also defer principal payments for up to 12 months and extend the maturity of promissory notes (P/N) and Trade Finance loans by an additional 6 months.
Moreover, business customers affected by COVID-19, both directly and indirectly, such as those in tourism, hotels, car rentals, and souvenir shops, can apply for the Krung Thai COVID-19 Rescue Loan with an interest rate starting at 2% per annum, fixed for the first 2 years, with a maximum loan amount of 20 million baht, free of guarantee fees for 4 years, and no transaction fees for transfers and payments for 1 year, subject to the bank's terms and conditions.
