The Energy Ministry is set to submit a request for funding from the Energy Fund amounting to 10 billion baht.

Kulit Sombatsiri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, revealed the outcome of the meeting of the subcommittee of the Energy Conservation Fund, chaired by Minister Siri Jirapongphan, on December 4. The meeting approved the guidelines for submitting requests for budget support from the Energy Conservation Fund for the second round of the 2019 fiscal year, totaling 10 billion baht. At the same time, preparations must be made to present this to the Energy Conservation Fund Board, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prajin Juntong, on December 6 for approval to proceed with the project.

However, if the board approves the budget, the application process for projects seeking funding from the fund can begin immediately until the deadline in February 2019, allowing projects to receive allocated funds to move forward by March 1, 2019. If the approved projects do not utilize the full budget available, there will be no third round of submissions, and the project will be closed immediately, after which the budget for the 2020 fiscal year will be considered.

"In the first round of the 2019 fiscal year, 10.4 billion baht was opened, but only 1.056 billion baht was approved due to many projects not aligning with objectives and lacking proper documentation. This new round will provide another opportunity to distribute funds to other projects that have not yet been approved," Kulit stated.
