The Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) reports on the regional economic situation weekly as of March 18, 2022, as follows: 
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars in March 2022 grew by 17.3%.
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles in March 2022 decreased by -8.6%.

“Consumer durable goods, as reflected by the number of newly registered passenger cars in March 2022, showed accelerated growth in several regions, while the number of newly registered motorcycles decreased across all regions.”

The number of newly registered passenger cars in March 2022 was 69,699 units, representing a growth of 17.3% year-on-year (however, when adjusted for seasonal effects, the growth is 10.8% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include:
1) Bangkok and surrounding areas grew by 33.6% year-on-year, up from 11.7% year-on-year the previous month, with Samut Sakhon, Bangkok, and Nonthaburi showing the best growth.
2) Southern region grew by 8.0% year-on-year, up from 3.8% year-on-year the previous month, with Surat Thani, Pattani, and Songkhla showing the best growth.
3) Eastern region grew by 4.0% year-on-year, recovering from a decline of 3.6% year-on-year the previous month, with Chonburi, Chachoengsao, and Prachinburi showing the best growth.

The number of newly registered motorcycles in March 2022 was 169,628 units, representing a decrease of -8.6% year-on-year (however, when adjusted for seasonal effects, the decrease is 8.2% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include:
1) Eastern region decreased by -4.4% year-on-year, down from 23.3% year-on-year growth the previous month; however, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, and Rayong still showed growth.
2) Bangkok and surrounding areas decreased by -6.4% year-on-year, down from 10.5% year-on-year growth the previous month; however, Pathum Thani showed a slower rate of decline.
3) Southern region saw a slower decline of -6.6% year-on-year, down from 23.7% year-on-year growth the previous month; however, Phuket, Phang Nga, and Ranong still showed growth.
