The Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) reports on the regional economic situation weekly as of May 12, 2022, as follows:
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars in April 2022 grew by 10.1%.
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles in April 2022 decreased by -7.6%.

“Durable goods consumption is reflected in the number of newly registered passenger cars in April 2022, which grew in several regions, while the number of newly registered motorcycles decreased in many areas.”

          The number of newly registered passenger cars in April 2022 was 49,588 units, representing a growth of 10.1% year-on-year (however, when adjusted for seasonal effects, it shows a decrease of -4.33% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). The details are as follows:
1) Eastern Region grew by 22.7% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 4.0% year-on-year, with Chonburi, Rayong, and Prachinburi showing the best growth.
2) Southern Region grew by 19.0% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 8.0% year-on-year, with Krabi, Phuket, and Chumphon showing the best growth.
3) Bangkok and Vicinity grew by 17.4% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 33.6% year-on-year, with Samut Prakan, Bangkok, and Nonthaburi showing the best growth.

          The number of newly registered motorcycles in April 2022 was 134,512 units, representing a decrease of -7.6% year-on-year (however, when adjusted for seasonal effects, it shows a growth of 9.16% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). The details are as follows:
1) Southern Region grew by 5.6% year-on-year from the previous month, which decreased by -6.6% year-on-year, with Krabi, Phuket, and Trang showing the best growth.
2) Eastern Region decreased at a slower rate of -0.8% year-on-year from the previous month, which decreased by -4.4% year-on-year; however, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo, and Rayong still managed to grow.
3) Bangkok and Vicinity decreased by -9.5% year-on-year from the previous month, which decreased by -6.4% year-on-year; however, Samut Sakhon and Nakhon Pathom still managed to grow.
