Which of the 77 Provinces has the Highest GPP per Capita?

Terrabkk would like to explain that GPP or Gross Provincial Product refers to the value of the production of final goods and services conducted within the area of that province, including income from various production factors such as labor compensation, land rent, interest, and profits. It reflects the overall economic picture and the value added from all types of production activities in that province.

So, what is GPP per capita?

GPP per capita is a figure that indicates the ability to generate the value of final goods and services production per average person in the province. If a province has a higher average, it indicates a greater potential to generate income within that province.

It should be noted that GPP per capita is not the net income per capita of that province's population, as it only accounts for the value added, as mentioned above.

Which sector has the highest GPP per capita in Thailand?

According to the “Provincial and Sectoral Product Data for 2017” from the National Economic and Social Development Office, TerraBKK found that the average GPP per capita for Thailand is 228,398 baht. The region with a GPP per capita above the national average is the Eastern region at 500,676 baht, followed by Bangkok and its vicinity at 449,881 baht, and the Central region at 267,162 baht. Meanwhile, the other four regions have averages below the national average: Western region at 149,826 baht, Southern region at 148,066 baht, Northern region at 103,760 baht, and Northeastern region at 80,352 baht.

The province with the highest GPP per capita is not Bangkok!

Although Bangkok has the highest GPP in Thailand (5.02 trillion baht), its large population of 8.75 million results in an average GPP per capita of 574,000 baht, placing it third, behind two provinces with the highest averages in Thailand: Rayong at 1.095 million baht and Chonburi at 581,000 baht.

The provinces with the lowest GPP per capita are mostly in the Northeastern region.

In the bottom 10 provinces, 7 are located in the Northeastern region: Sisaket, Surin, Amnat Charoen, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Yasothon, and Nong Bua Lam Phu. Additionally, there are 2 provinces in the North: Phrae and Mae Hong Son, along with 1 province in the South: Narathiwat. ---TERRABKK
