How Many Foreign Workers Are There in Each Province? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

According to data from the number of foreign workers authorized to work across the Kingdom as of August 2019 from the Department of Employment, TerraBKK found a total of over 3.09 million people. This number includes foreign nationals who are minorities and migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

If we consider only foreign nationals classified as skilled labor, they can be divided into two categories:

  • Section 59 General Category: Foreign nationals who reside in Thailand or are temporarily permitted to enter Thailand under immigration law (not tourists or transit travelers) and do not have any prohibitive characteristics as defined by ministerial regulations.
  • Section 62 Investment Promotion Category: Foreign nationals who come to work in Thailand under the Investment Promotion Act (B.E. 2520) or other laws, such as the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand Act (B.E. 2522) and the Petroleum Act (B.E. 2514), including investors, skilled workers, specialists, etc.

    As of August 2019, TerraBKK found that Thailand had approximately 162,530 workers in the two categories mentioned above, divided into General Category 115,749 people and Investment Promotion Category 46,781 people. The provinces with the highest numbers are as follows:
