Which Electrical Appliances Require Grounding?
If you ask which types of electrical appliances need to be grounded, almost every type falls into this category.
• What is the purpose of grounding?
• How do grounding wires, breakers, and shock protection devices work differently?
Especially those with a metal frame or casing that users may touch, such as refrigerators, water heaters, irons, washing machines, rice cookers, etc. These are referred to as Type 1 electrical appliances that require grounding.

Even metal lamps should be grounded unless they are positioned beyond the reach of the average person, meaning they must be higher than 2.40 meters or more than 1.50 meters away horizontally.

However, there are exceptions for certain types of electrical appliances that do not require grounding because they have double insulation, known as Type 2 electrical appliances. These are marked with a symbol of a square with two layers or a cross-circle over the grounding symbol on the device. Examples of this type of appliance include fans, radios, and televisions.
