A New Learning Hub for Designers to Better Understand Users at TCDC COMMONS @ W District - UXD
“Endless Learning” is a catchy phrase that inspires everyone, especially those who love to learn new things. In today's fast-changing world, existing knowledge may not be enough. In Thailand, various learning centers have been established as both the public and private sectors agree that developing quality personnel is a crucial driver for advancing the economy, society, and propelling the country forward.
Particularly, TCDC is part of the learning resources that drive all business sectors and Thailand towards a creative economy, developing the country's creative industries to keep pace with competition in the new era through learning activities and skill enhancement while building a network of creators.
Currently, TCDC has several learning centers across the country, including:
- TCDC Bangkok
- TCDC Chiang Mai / TCDC Khon Kaen
- Mini TCDC Center (a network of knowledge resources in 35 educational institutions nationwide)
- TCDC COMMONS at IDEO Q Chulalongkorn-Samyan in collaboration with Ananda Development
- TCDC COMMONS at W District in collaboration with Worakarn Property Co., Ltd.

Recently, TCDC COMMONS at W District has launched the first User Experience Design (UXD) learning hub in Thailand. UXD focuses on the experiences, emotions, and feelings of users. UX designers study and understand user needs and define user experiences to meet various demands. Interested individuals can try out products and services to understand design approaches, with users at the center to maximize satisfaction. This strategy has been a key to success for giants like Apple, Amazon, and Airbnb, transforming industries and lifestyles worldwide.
For instance, amazon.com conducted usability tests and found that customers did not purchase products when required to fill out information and register before payment. After simplifying the screen to only require an address and email, amazon.com increased revenue by 45% in the first month and generated around 10 billion baht in the first year. With such success stories, large companies in Thailand, such as Siam Commercial Bank, Krung Thai Bank, True, AIS, Dtac, IBM, LAZADA, Central, etc., are increasingly recognizing the importance of UXD.
Spanning over 480 square meters, TCDC COMMONS at W District - UXD is designed to serve as a library offering over 2,500 publications and journals, a co-working space, meeting rooms, workshop and exhibition areas, as well as a Usability Lab and Device Lab for testing products, websites, games, and applications.

Usability Lab is a space where UX designers can test product prototypes with real users and gather detailed data to identify areas for improvement before actual development and production. The Usability Lab at TCDC COMMONS in W District is equipped with eye-tracking devices to test which parts of the designed screen users focus on, and brainwave tracking devices to study brain responses while playing games or using designed products.

Device Lab is a room where designs for websites or applications can be displayed on various communication devices and computers available in the market simultaneously to study and collect data on differences or flaws for further development into a complete product.

This comprehensive learning hub is open to everyone, including entrepreneurs, designers, students, or anyone interested in learning about UX, as well as professional UX designers looking for a lab for their work.
At the same time, TCDC COMMONS plans to continuously organize activities to create a space for knowledge exchange, testing, and experimentation, as well as a gathering place to build a network of professionals related to UXD in Thailand, leading to creativity and new opportunities that are essential for developing the Thai economy and society.

Thanks to TCDC COMMONS at W District for the information.
