This weekend, escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok and head over to Bang Bua Thong. Today, we will visit the 'Mushroom Cottage' or Mushroom Cottage Farm, a trendy agricultural tourism destination. Here, it's not just a mushroom cultivation facility; you can also learn how to grow mushrooms as a side business.

The Mushroom Cottage Farm is located on approximately 1 rai of land, directly across from Bang Bua Thong School. It cultivates four types of mushrooms: Hungarian, Pink Oyster, Bhutanese, and Abalone. These four types require similar temperature and humidity levels for growth, making it easier to control mushroom production.

Inside the Mushroom Cottage Farm, there are three main zones: the mushroom cultivation houses, which consist of three cottages covered with palm leaves. Inside, there are numerous blocks of all four types of mushrooms ready to fruit, neatly arranged on the shelves.

The second zone is the mushroom cultivation area, which serves as a learning space starting from the process of cultivating mushroom spores to mixing materials and pressing mushroom blocks. Some days, there are also workshops on processing food from mushrooms.

The third zone is the Tree & Tea café, which sells coffee and dishes made from the mushrooms grown on the farm. This café has recently opened to accommodate visitors, especially families. This area is perfect for bringing kids or grandparents to relax while waiting. All the food served here is made from the farm's mushrooms, ensuring that the meals are free from toxins.

Additionally, there are wooden pavilions with chairs around the farm for visitors to rest.

After exploring and tasting mushrooms in every zone, don't forget to buy some of the four types of mushrooms to cook at home. They are sold at 70 baht per kilogram, and you can choose your favorites. The Hungarian mushrooms are soft, the Bhutanese mushrooms resemble chicken, the Pink Oyster mushrooms have a chewy texture similar to squid, and the Abalone mushrooms are tender like shellfish.

For those who enjoy gardening, I recommend buying mushroom blocks to try growing them yourself. One mushroom block can yield mushrooms 2-3 times a month.

If you're interested in learning mushroom cultivation for a career, you can enroll in training for 1,850 baht and start growing mushrooms immediately.
