Did You Know? Obsession with Power and Success Can Indicate a Mental Disorder
When it comes to mental health issues that affect daily life, an obsession with power and personal success is concerning. It poses a risk of developing a specific mental disorder known as “narcissistic personality disorder”, which leads to an inability to acknowledge others while only believing in oneself. This can result in belittling others, fostering hatred, and ultimately impacting one's quality of life.
Symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder
- Individuals with this disorder often refuse to acknowledge others and only trust their own thoughts, becoming fixated on themselves. This personality disorder makes it difficult for them to adapt to social interactions.
- They exhibit antisocial behavior, rejecting others and their ideas, believing they are the best or superior to everyone else.
- They crave admiration and cannot accept negative feedback about themselves. These individuals often lack empathy, exploit others negatively, and enjoy belittling others.
- They also tend to think that others are constantly envious of them, which is a mental health issue that requires treatment.
Factors Contributing to the Disorder
Approximately 50% of individuals are born with this disorder, while other contributing factors include family, friends, school, and the surrounding environment, all of which can shape the development of narcissism.
Other Problems Arising from This Disorder
This disorder makes it difficult to connect with others, complicating social life, leading to stress, and potentially resulting in depression.
Treatment Methods
Individuals with this disorder require long-term psychological therapy to change their thoughts and perspectives, and medication may be used depending on the case.
