Hello readers and customers, welcome to George Tire Bid, your tire expert. Gas-powered vehicles, in my opinion, are very popular among taxi drivers and those looking to save on fuel costs, whether using CNG or LPG, as gas prices are significantly lower than gasoline. However, many people are concerned due to news reports of gas-powered vehicles being involved in fire accidents, often blaming the gas installation. This fear is usually unfounded, as the real issue often stems from the vehicle owner's lack of maintenance, which is just as important as maintaining gasoline-powered vehicles. Caring for a gas-powered vehicle correctly is not complicated. In this automotive knowledge segment, I have compiled some essential tips for you.

Gas-powered vehicles require more engine maintenance than regular gasoline vehicles. In addition to standard engine maintenance, such as checking lubricants and coolant levels, inspecting belts, wires, spark plugs, and the fuel system, there are additional steps for checking gas-powered vehicles:

1. Regularly check for gas odors. The smell of CNG and LPG is different, so you should familiarize yourself with it when refueling. To check for leaks, you can apply soapy water to suspected areas, especially where you detect a strong odor, and look for bubbles forming continuously.

Monitor for leaks in the water system leading to the gas burner. If you notice wet spots or scale buildup, you should immediately take your vehicle to a workshop to replace the pipes or burner. Additionally, the burner should be cleaned every 12-18 months.

2. Ensure the gas burner is securely installed and not located near the battery or ignition coil. If using a suction or mixer system, it should be positioned at the front of the circular plan, aligned horizontally with the vehicle. Do not place it lying down or tilted, as this will affect gas delivery consistency.

3. Change the engine oil regularly and use oil grades specifically designed for gas-powered vehicles to extend engine life.

4. Check the spark plugs more frequently. If using standard plugs, replace them every 10,000 kilometers or annually. For iridium or platinum plugs, you can extend the replacement interval nearly double.

5. Adjust the valves after every 40,000-60,000 kilometers of use.

6. Clean or replace the gas filter during routine checks, approximately every 12-18 months.

7. Replace the gas pump and fuel pump every three years or after 30,000-50,000 kilometers of use.

Additionally, I recommend proper usage of gas-powered vehicles, which is not much more complicated than using regular gasoline. Developing good habits can significantly extend the life of your gas-powered vehicle:

1. Keep the fuel tank above 1/4 full to prevent rust in the fuel tank and protect the fuel pump.

2. Use gasoline to start the engine before switching to gas, and switch back to gasoline before turning off the engine to maintain engine efficiency and reduce wear on the valves, preventing injector clogging and dry cylinders.

3. Choose a reputable gas installation service to ensure proper installation and maintenance.

4. Do not connect your vehicle's gas system to household cooking gas tanks, as this poses significant safety risks due to uncontrolled equipment and methods.

5. Avoid aggressive driving and sudden acceleration to prevent backfire issues, especially in suction or mixer gas systems.

6. Do not tune the gas too lean, as this can increase engine compartment temperatures and potentially harm the engine.

Other gas components, such as solenoids or gas switches, are less likely to fail and do not require special maintenance. If your vehicle is over ten years old, you should replace the gas tank as mandated by law, as the Department of Transport is phasing out manual valve tanks in favor of multi-valve tanks, which are safer.

How do you feel about these tips for maintaining gas-powered vehicles? If you regularly check your gas-powered vehicle as outlined, you can drive with peace of mind on every journey. For those considering or hesitating about installing a gas system, I hope this information helps you make a decision to save on fuel costs.
