Biohacking: Technology Towards the Future of Humanity
Have you ever wondered where the limits of our bodies lie? Can we enhance our physical capabilities to be on par with superheroes? Today, Terrabkk would like to introduce a technology that will help us understand these aspects and may become a topic of discussion in the near future: Bio-hacking.
Professor Ron Shigeta from Berkeley BioLabs in California stated, "Bio-hacking is the freedom to discover the life you can be, just like in fiction." If someone knows their own potential, they will surely find shortcuts to enhance their capabilities."

So, what is Bio-hacking???
It is a technology used to hack the human body or to interfere with various bodily functions, aiming to make our bodies work stronger, faster, and better. In simple terms, it is a technology that allows us to understand our bodies better and improve our health in a personalized way.
Bio-hacking is not as complicated as it seems. It does not require a plethora of scientific equipment like in movies, nor does it necessitate a chaotic laboratory. It can be as simple as conducting easy experiments to enhance our body's performance and capabilities. For instance, trying out unusual diets like the Intermittent Diet, which involves eating only during specific hours of the day (e.g., eating for just 8 hours), or stopping alcohol consumption, cutting out sugar, or identifying food allergies and avoiding those items, such as gluten if one is gluten intolerant, can all be considered forms of Bio-hacking.
However, we do not need to sit down and collect data or take notes painstakingly. Nowadays, various Wearable technologies serve as Bio-tracking tools to measure our bodily capabilities. They can track heart rate in different zones, steps taken, movement, stress levels, and sleep quality. Once we have this data, the system can calculate it into a more useful dataset, known as Bio-awareness, to explore the relationship between outcomes and the activities being performed at that moment. Ultimately, we arrive at an era of Bio-hacking that can create mechanisms in the body and feelings according to a predetermined program, such as a Smartwatch.

In 2019, Bio-hacking, which involves using biological science and technology to manage the human body system to improve performance and enhance physical capabilities, will not be limited to merely displaying data for users. Instead, this data will be able to respond back to the body and develop human physical capabilities. At the SXSW 2018 event, the significance of this technology was highlighted as a major change for people in 2020.

Juniper Research, a market research company, predicts that the market for these wearable devices will reach 350 million units by 2020 and will expand into smart clothing or devices that users do not feel they need to add any tools to their bodies. Future smart devices will begin to integrate with everyday items, not just during exercise. It is estimated that smart clothing will become one of the main industries that will allow this technology to demonstrate its full potential, with production expected to increase to 30 million units by 2022. In addition to managing bodily systems, these devices must also be able to manage their own energy systems without causing inconvenience or obstacles to daily use.
The diversity of Bio-hacking technology will certainly not stop at fitness wristbands. Terrabkk believes that in the near future, Bio-hacking technology will play an increasingly significant role in our daily lives, enabling us to understand our body's potential, monitor our health when experiencing abnormalities, and prevent various issues that may arise from within our bodies, allowing us to manage our health better.
