The Tree Pattanakarn-Ekkamai: Freedom in a Location of Your Choice

As we move into the second half of 2019, questions arise when reflecting on the first quarter of 2019. According to the Thai Economic Situation Report for Q1 2019 by the National Economic and Social Development Board, Thailand's real estate activities grew by 4.7%, a slight decrease compared to the previous quarter, attributed to a slowdown in contract signing. Meanwhile, private construction overall expanded by 1.8%, also down from the previous quarter, due to a 2.6% decline in residential building construction, primarily in municipal and sub-district areas, although construction in Bangkok and its vicinity continued to rise.

Factors driving the second half of the year are expected to benefit from strong domestic demand growth, including household consumption and private investment, as well as public investment, which will become a significant stimulus for Thailand.

It is clear that public investment is set to bring about significant changes in Thailand, especially in Bangkok, with the development of various electric train lines. Looking back at oneself, it would be great to know which locations are going to be surrounded by multiple electric train networks, offering new travel options for Bangkok residents.

Ekkamai-Pattanakarn Area Supports 5 Mass Transit Electric Train Lines

Major developers like Pruksa understand that convenience in transportation is a key factor in choosing a residence. Their latest condominium project, “The Tree Pattanakarn-Ekkamai”, is developed on a plot of land along Pattanakarn Road, just 300 meters from the Airport Link at Ramkhamhaeng, and only 5 minutes to Ekkamai and Thonglor.

The transportation network in the Ekkamai-Pattanakarn area is supported by the BTS Skytrain, which has been running along Sukhumvit Road since 1999. About 11 years later, the Airport Link was first opened in 2010 and is set to become part of the High-Speed Rail Project connecting Don Mueang, Suvarnabhumi, and U-Tapao airports to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), expected to open in 2023. The project is divided into three phases, covering over 220.5 kilometers as follows:

  • Don Mueang-Bang Sue-Phaya Thai: An extension of the Airport Link (ARL Extension) heading north of Bangkok, covering 8 kilometers.
  • Phaya Thai-Suvarnabhumi Airport: This is the current Airport Link route, covering 7 kilometers.
  • Suvarnabhumi Airport-U-Tapao Airport: Covering 170 kilometers.

In addition to the two electric train lines mentioned, the future of the Ekkamai-Pattanakarn area will also be surrounded by the Orange Line and Gray Line within a 1-kilometer radius, and the Yellow Line within a 5-kilometer radius, with expected service openings as follows:

  • 2021: Yellow Line (Lat Phrao-Samrong): A monorail system covering 4 kilometers, with civil work progress at 30.40% and electrical and mechanical work at 16.84% (as of April 2019).
  • 2023: Orange Line (Cultural Center-Minh Buri): Covering approximately 11 kilometers, with progress at 12% (as of April 2019).
  • Gray Line (Phase 1: Watcharapol-Thonglor): Covering 25 kilometers, currently under discussion with the Expressway Authority of Thailand for land use for construction.
