Behaviors Contributing to Antibiotic Resistance
To encourage Thai people to recognize the dangers of the antibiotic resistance crisis, which leads to deaths due to the body no longer being able to respond to medications after excessive use.
What behaviors increase the risk of 'antibiotic resistance'?
1. Have ever purchased antibiotics to take after seeing others do it.
2. Have ever stopped taking antibiotics when feeling better.
3. Have ever self-medicated with antibiotics based on previous prescriptions from healthcare professionals.
4. Have ever used lozenges containing antibiotics.
5. Have ever opened capsules to sprinkle antibiotics on wounds.
6. Have ever used antibiotics mixed in animal feed as advised to prevent illness in animals.
7. Have ever switched to stronger antibiotics on your own when the first medication did not provide immediate relief.
8. Have not advised others using antibiotics incorrectly on the proper usage.
9. Have ever purchased anti-inflammatory medication for self-treatment.
10. Have ever used antibiotics without knowing the generic name of the drug.
This crisis is serious and is becoming a significant issue for every country. The World Health Organization has also designated November of each year as Antibiotic Awareness Week.
