LINE TV Predicts That in 3 Years, AVOD Platforms Will Compete for Viewership Shares Comparable to Television
AVOD platforms are vying for nearly equal viewership shares as television, a phenomenon currently unfolding in the Thai content industry. Online video platforms across various dimensions are set to capture a larger share of the content business in the next three years.

Mr. Kanop Supamanop, Vice President of Content Business at LINE Thailand stated that the behavior of content consumption through online platforms has been continuously increasing worldwide compared to television due to several factors.
In Thailand, viewership on online platforms is expected to grow by 15% in 2024 compared to 2018. AVOD (Ad-Supported Video on Demand) platforms, which generate revenue from advertisements without requiring viewers to pay, are projected to grow continuously by over 50% in the next three years, nearly matching the audience base of television.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also acted as a catalyst, prompting viewers to shift towards online content consumption. This is evident from LINE TV, which saw a 43% increase in downloads and a 43% increase in viewing time.
Currently, content producers in the country and various brands are placing significant emphasis on OTT TV platforms, especially AVOD, which is expected to play a major role in the Thai content market.
Creating an Enjoyment Journey in the Ecosystem to Elevate Content
LINE TV has created an Enjoyment Journey that connects with various services in the LINE Ecosystem to provide an experience beyond mere viewing. This initiative enables content producers to reach their audience more effectively than ever before, as demonstrated by the success of the 'Injin Finver' campaign, which set record highs for the participating services.
Additionally, they are preparing to launch a 'As Seen on TV' feature that allows viewers to shop for products featured in content on LINE TV directly through the Wallet tab in the LINE app.
