The Ministry of Labor has implemented measures to assist employers, employees, and insured persons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as follows:
1. Increased Unemployment Benefits due to unforeseen circumstances, extending coverage for insured persons against risks arising from diseases that spread among humans, as well as other hazards, whether caused by nature or human actions, effective from 1 March 2020. This includes:
– Insured persons who are unemployed or whose employers do not allow them to work will receive unemployment benefits from social security at a rate of 50% for a period not exceeding 180 days.
– In cases where government agencies order temporary business closures, social security will provide unemployment benefits at a rate of 50% for a period not exceeding 60 days.

2. Approval to Reduce Employer and Insured Contribution Rates to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak to a rate of 4% for a period of 6 months.

Additionally, the deadline for employers and insured persons under Sections 33, 39 to submit contributions for the wage periods of March and April 2020 has been extended by another 3 months. Contributions for the wage period of March 2020 must be submitted by 15 April 2020, for the wage period of April 2020 by 15 May 2020, and for the wage period of May 2020 by 15 June 2020.

3. Healthcare Services The committee has resolved to provide the best possible care for insured persons suffering from COVID-19 according to established medical standards.

Furthermore, to assist insured persons during this crisis, whether economically or due to other factors, the committee has also approved increased unemployment benefits for insured persons who are unemployed due to resignation at a rate of 45% for a period not exceeding 90 days, and for those unemployed due to termination at a rate of 70% for a period not exceeding 200 days.
