Many people may wonder what rank Thailand holds in terms of peacefulness globally. According to the Institute for Economics and Peace, the Global Peace Index (GPI) for 2019 reveals that the world's peace index has seen a slight improvement, marking the first development in five years. Thailand ranks 117th, dropping three places compared to the previous year.

In the GPI, which ranks peace among 163 countries, the average score improved by -0.09 percent in 2019. Over the past decade, the peace index has decreased by 3.78 percent. Out of all GPI rankings, 89 countries saw an increase in their GPI scores, while 76 countries experienced a decline. Notably, Thailand ranks 117th, showing an increase in score compared to 2018, despite its rank dropping three places from 114th in 2018.
