6. Magnetic Waves Increase Cancer Risk Using a smartphone for more than 10 years doubles the risk of brain cancer due to magnetic waves emitted directly from communication devices. Cancer tends to develop on the side of the head that is regularly exposed to the smartphone. Furthermore, research funded by a mobile company from Harvard concluded that mobile phone use alters human cells and may lead to cancer or brain tumors. The recommendation is to hold the phone away from your body before speaking normally.
