How Expensive or Cheap Are They? Hospital Stocks – Hotel Stocks – Retail Stocks
How expensive or cheap are hospital stocks – hotel stocks – retail stocks? This question has an answer. TerraBKK Research has compiled the P/E ratios of individual stocks to reflect the pricing of these stocks compared to others in the same business sector. This time, we will focus on the service industry (SERVICE) in the Stock Exchange of Thailand, selecting sectors that investors are likely familiar with, namely Commerce (COMM), Tourism and Recreation (TOURISM), and Healthcare (HEALTH). The details are as follows:
Commerce consists of 23 companies with an industry average P/E ratio of 23.5 times. The company with the highest P/E ratio in this group is GLOBAL - Siam Global House, while the company with the lowest P/E ratio is BIG - Big Camera. Additionally, there are 2 companies for which P/E ratios cannot be determined due to negative net profits in the last 12 months: SINGER - Singer Thailand and LOXLEY - Loxley.

Tourism and Recreation consists of 11 companies with an industry average P/E ratio of 34.6 times. There are 3 companies with P/E ratios higher than the industry average: LRH - Laguna Resort and Hotel, MANRIN - Mandarin Hotel, and OHTL - OHTL. The company with the lowest P/E ratio in this group is GRAND - Grand Asset Hotels and Property.
Healthcare consists of 21 companies with an industry average P/E ratio of 31.3 times. The most expensive stock in this group is WPH - Vejthani Hospital, while the cheapest stock is M-CHAI - Mahachai Hospital. Additionally, there is one stock for which the P/E ratio cannot be determined due to negative net profits in the last 12 months: KDH - Thonburi Medical Center or Samitivej Thonburi Hospital (formerly known as Krungthon Hospital 1).
In conclusion, TerraBKK Research states that the P/E ratio is merely an assessment of the stock's pricing at that moment, which should be a step taken after investors have thoroughly studied the business of that stock. It is also reiterated that stocks with low P/E ratios do not guarantee that they are good investments. TerraBKK
