A small area in our homes where we clean ourselves, relieve ourselves, and possibly wash our clothes—whether called a "toilet," "bathroom," or "latrine"—is home to numerous germs. Therefore, an important aspect to consider when using these spaces is "hygiene," which plays a crucial role in promoting good health for everyone.

The United Nations has designated November 19th of each year as World Toilet Day to highlight the plight of over 2.5 billion people worldwide who still lack basic sanitation facilities. The UN has stated that among the 7 billion people on the planet, 6 billion have access to mobile phones, but only 4.5 billion can access a toilet.

As a result, a resolution has been passed calling on all 193 member countries to work together to promote behavioral changes and implement policies to increase access to sanitation systems and to end open defecation, which is a major cause of diarrhea that leads to the deaths of 750,000 children under the age of 5 each year.
