Setting Goals for a Happy Life
It's hard to believe that many people let time pass by day after day without ever setting goals in their lives. As a result, they never truly know what they want to be, have, or do in the future, or when they will be considered successful. If you are one of these individuals, take a moment to pause and seriously reflect on yourself, as suggested by Coach Sirilak Tanthiri, who shared insights with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth) that setting good goals can indeed lead to a happier life.
"A life without goals is like a life without direction." Setting good goals will propel us toward success with a clear path. The year 2015 marks a new beginning to step toward the goals we have set.
Coach Sirilak Tanthiri, an inspirational speaker, mentioned that living without goals is akin to sailing in the sea aimlessly. However, having a "goal" will guide us on the path to where we want to go. Goals should encompass all aspects of life, such as family, health, work, and finances.
Factors for Setting Good Goals
1) Clarity: Good goals must be clear and detailed, such as how much a new house will cost, its size, color, location, and design.
2) Measurable: Goals should be specific and measurable based on the clarity defined.
3) Time-bound: Specify when you will achieve that goal, including the month and date.
4) Write it down: Writing helps us absorb the goal into our subconscious. If we prioritize the goal and read it with positive energy, we will get closer to achieving it. Write goals in the present tense as if we already have them, for example, "I will publish a new book that can change people's lives by June 2015, and it will be a bestseller."
5) Not too small: Goals should not be so easy that they require no effort. They should challenge us to strive for them.
6) Not too big: Goals should be ambitious yet achievable, requiring effort and excitement.
Inspiration to Reach Goals
1) Read your goals daily with enthusiasm and freshness.
2) Visualize your success as if it is happening right now, with you in that dream scenario.
3) Make the present excellent and aligned with your goals. Find ways to make your goals a reality.
4) Find a friend who can motivate you, which is very important. This person can be someone you share your dreams with, reminding you to act and encouraging you to reach your goals.
"When setting goals, it is advisable to establish long-term goals annually and break them down into smaller monthly goals. Once you try this, you will understand how feasible your goals are and evaluate your success over time, which may differ for each person," Coach Sirilak said.
Using the law of attraction to empower oneself emphasizes positive thinking, which enhances positive energy in life, along with taking action. If we are determined and committed to starting something more than before, our goals or dreams will not be out of reach...
